MOORESTOWN, NJ — Longtime employees at Starlite Productions, Gustavo Gomez, 42, and Donna Gomez, 59, were arrested and charged with stealing gear from the company. The theft allegedly took place from 2008 to 2014, with the total among of gear valued at close to $323,000, according to the Burlington County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office. The arrests came after an 18-month investigation.

CHICAGO – Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) recently added Elation Professional’s Volt Q5 uplight fixtures to its rental inventory. The fixture is designed to serve as a go-anywhere RGBW LED wash light. It runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Featuring IP65 housing, the battery lasts up to 12 hours between charges. GOSHEN, KY — Jan Musson, founder of Santa Clara, CA-based Musson Theatrical, died peacefully at home in Goshen, KY at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21, 2015. She was 79. A graduate of Stanford University who received her Master’s degree from San José State University, Jan founded Musson Theatrical Inc. in 1971. The company, launched as a home-based business, grew to offer a full range of theatrical sales and rentals, system design and specification, custom drapery and rigging design and installation, event design and production services.

CHICAGO – For the Freaky Deaky festival, held in Chicago’s Toyota Park soccer stadium from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, the autumn skies were gray but the performers were lit with color washes from 48 of Chauvet’s COLORado Batten 144 Tour LED fixtures. LD Collyns Stenzel used the Batten fixtures to colorwash the scenic elements on the festival’s main stage and one of its two side stages.

LOS ANGELES — For Mötley Crüe’s final tour, LD Matt Mills deployed an array of Martin MAC Viper AirFXs, Martin MAC Quantum Washes and Martin Atomic 3000 DMX strobes.  The tour will wrap up with a three-night run at the Staples Center, culminating in a final show on New Year’s Eve.

LAS VEGAS – 4Wall and PLSN affiliate Stage Directions magazine are inviting college students to apply for a chance to win a trip to the USITT’s Annual Conference & Stage Expo (Salt Lake City, UT, March 16-19, 2016) or the Hemsley Portfolio Review (Lincoln Center in New York City, April 2-3, 2016). Winners will be chosen based on video submissions showing ten cues from a show worked on this past season. The submission deadline is Feb. 26, 2016.

LAFAYETTE, LA – B&L Sound and Lighting’s Jason Wilson, who served as event producer for the Louisiana Youth Evangelism Celebration (YEC) within  Louisiana’s sprawling Cajundome Nov. 23-24, used 28 Rogue R2 Washes, 36 Rogue R2 Beams and three Strike4 LED blinders from Chauvet Professional for high impact, budget-friendly looks. Wilson also used Chauvet’s Next NXT-1 panels as a pixel-mapped extension of the Chauvet PVP S5 video panels used during the event.

ORLANDO – For the Circuit Grounds stage at Orlando’s Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) earlier this year, LD Steve Lieberman included Elation lighting fixtures. The setup included Elation Platinum Spot 35 Pro moving heads with Colour Chorus LED strip lights. AG Production Services supplied the gear.

ATLANTA – Kinesys is opening the doors and welcoming guests to its dedicated training facility in Atlanta next month. The event will run from Jan. 25-28, 2016. It promises increased product awareness and free operator training for those who want to know more about automated rigging for the entertainment industry.
