Staples Center Installs Light Vector Lasers

LOS ANGELES – Image Engineering recently installed four LV50 and two LV60 Light Vector scanning laser projectors and associated hardware in the Staples Center. This laser installation is now a permanent fixture in the arena, delivering more than 300 watts of white light laser power. The laser effects can be programmed entirely from a conventional lighting console.

EL PASO – Andrew Gumper of production house AG Light & Sound relied upon a rig that included effects from Elation Colour Chorus LED battens and Elation Platinum Series moving heads for El Paso’s Sun City Music Festival (SCMF), which was held over Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 5-6). The EDM event has grown since it was founded in 2011 and this year featured headliners including Armin van Buuren and Hardwell.

SALT LAKE CITY – Keven Myhre, a Salt Lake City theatrical designer and director, has been chosen to receive the 2016 Thomas DeGaetani Award from USITT. Myhre will be honored at USITT 2016 in Salt Lake City next March. USITT annually honors a key contributor to the performing arts in the region of its national Conference & Stage Expo. The 2016 Conference will be held in Salt Lake March 16-19.

In Memoriam: Eric Robinson, 67

 

PORT DOUGLAS, Australia — Eric Robinson, longtime CEO of JPJ Audio and co-owner of Jands in Australia, died Nov. 11 after a bout with cancer. He was 67. Credited as both a risk-taking innovator and tough but shrewd and determined dealmaker, he retired earlier this year.
