MONTREAL – The technical services integration specialists of Solotech were tasked with implementing the technical upgrade of Cirque Éloize headquarters creative studios in the old Gare Dalhousie facilities. In less than a year, despite breakneck deadlines, the firm installed a one-of-a-kind interconnect system to free the Cirque Éloize from obsolescence.

NEW YORK – For pop punk band The Wonder Years, LD Victor Zeiser of Squeek Lights and lighting director David Summers collaborated on a series of visual looks that leverage Rogue R2 Washes, Nexus 4×1 bars, COLORdash Batten-Quad 6 fixtures and Vesuvio foggers, all from Chauvet Professional.

NASHVILLE – Visitors to the WFX Conference and Expo will have an opportunity to share insights with technical leaders from two leading houses of worship, The Crossing in St. Louis and Gateway Church in Dallas. Chauvet Professional is sponsoring a seminar by Bill Swaringim and Clark Wilbanks from The Crossing on Nov. 18 (10:15-11:15 a.m.) and a session by David Leuschner of Gateway Church Nov. 19 (8-9 a.m.) Both sessions will be held in room 213 at the Music City Center in Nashville.

LOS ANGELES – For the new season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew (ABDC), which premiered on July 29, LD Victor Fable turning to a lighting rig centering on fixtures from Elation Professional to light the recently revived dance reality show competition. The reality dance show was lit with Elation Platinum SBX hybrid moving heads, Sniper 2R multi-effect lights, Pixel Bar LED strip lights, Colour 5 Profile ellipsoidal spots and Protron 3K LED strobes.

LAS VEGAS — LDI’s annual conference and exhibition returned to the Las Vegas Convention Center Oct. 19-25, drawing close to 10,000 from 88 countries to view the latest in lighting, staging and video technologies. Chauvet Professional (booth pictured here) and more than 350 other companies exhibited, and new features with this year’s show including a full-scale exhibition of rock ‘n’ roll photographer Neal Preston’s artwork.

CLARK, NJ – For the Rock Carnival, staged Sept. 18-20 at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, NJ, Pulse Stage Lighting provided an Avolites console for every stage. The acts included Godsmack, Slash, Stone Temple Pilots, Anthrax, Sevendust and dozens of other hard rock bands; the Avo lineup included a Pearl Expert with Touch Wing (Stage A), a Sapphire Touch (Stage B) and a Tiger Touch on a smaller stage featuring mostly rock tribute acts.

NASHVILLE – At The Fellowship Ministries’ Two Rivers Campus, LD C. Andrew Dunning of Landru Design specified a Jands Vista system to provide simple yet powerful control for the worship services within the church campus’ 400-seat worship space. Dunning sourced the Jands Vista system via Josh Holowicki of lighting sales and production company E2i Design.

LAS VEGAS – Thousands of people descended upon the Las Vegas Convention Center last week for the annual LDI convention. One of the most talked-about booths combined the top of the line eye candy as well as professional lighting products for the stage from Wisconsin based Blizzard lighting to go along with a unique and original truss structure that only ModTruss can erect.

BYRON BAY, Australia — In a recent posting on their Facebook page, Rock-It Cargo noted the passing of Alan “Esco” Escombe. Escombe, who joined Rock-It Cargo in 1985, joined the company after touring as a bass player with The Shake Spears in the mid-1960s and Fynn McCool in the late 1960s-early 1970s. A recent photo of crew members during load-out after a Paul McCartney concert in Hamburg, Germany shows Escombe at far right.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA. – The brief for the Queens Ground and Sunken Garden stages at this year’s Nocturnal Wonderland was straightforward enough – to “push the limits” – and that’s exactly what Visions Lighting and SJ Lighting did with eye-popping lighting and video designs that featured Elation Professional LED and Platinum Series fixtures.
