ETC Announces 2015 LDI Student Sponsorship Recipients

MIDDLETON, WI – Every year ETC invites students with an interest in lighting design and stage technology from around the world to apply for the company’s annual LDI Sponsorship as a part of its commitment to nurturing young people looking to launch professional careers in the industry. Sponsorship recipients – five from North America and two international students — were awarded an all-expense-paid trip to the 2015 LDI tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, Oct 23-25.

NASHVILLE — Early in 2015, creative production design company 44 Designs (44designs.com) of Nashville, Tennessee, took on set and lighting design duties for country music duo Thompson Square’s new music video “Trans Am” and used Elation Cuepix Panels, Sniper 2R multi-effects and Platinum Beams in the visual design. The award-winning and multi-platinum group liked the look so much they decided to take it out on tour.

Hozier LD Matthew Kilmurry Using Avolites Sapphire Touch

BOSTON — LD Matthew Kilmurry is controlling Irish musician Hozier’s U.S. and U.K. tour lighting this autumn using an Avolites Sapphire Touch. Kilmurry’s design for the Hozier tour is based around a warm tungsten atmospheric feel, using old-school Edison bulbs dotted around the stage, which creates a warm glow for the performers.

Maroon 5 Tours with Ayrton MagicBlade-R Fixtures

LOS ANGELES Roy Bennett’s lighting design for Maroon 5’s year-long World Tour 2015 in support of V, the band’s fifth studio album, includes 210 Ayrton MagicBlade-R fixtures. Bennett, of Seven Design Works, used the MagicBlade-R units to delineate 13 jointed truss “arms,” which are suspended in a “V” shape above the stage to form a pivotal feature of the stage design.

Parnelli Voting, Ticket Sales Tracking at Record Pace

LAS VEGAS — The 2015 Parnelli Awards gala, hosted by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and honoring Chris Lamb, David Cunningham and Pat Quilter, is once again trending toward a complete sellout. As of Sept. 14, just one week after the Parnelli Awards ballot was finalized and made available online, the voting has been fast and furious, with reservations for the Oct. 24 event continuing apace. Voting from readers of PLSN and FRONT of HOUSE magazines will continue until Sept. 30, 2015.
