LOS ANGELES Production company Smoothworld TV and lighting visual effects/LD Jeff Barco recently turned to 4Wall Los Angeles to provide gear for a tightly scheduled commercial shoot for Nissan. “The Marvel Experience” Gets Support from Electrosonic, PRG

CHICAGO – For “The Marvel Experience,” a touring attraction staged so far near Phoenix (Nov. 12 2014-Jan. 3, 2015), Dallas (Jan. 9-Feb. 1), San Diego (Feb. 7-March 1) and Chicago (since April 2), Electrosonic and PRG have been providing visual support. The touring production operates out of inflatable domes erected on parcels of rented land.

Prolight + Sound Hosts Record Number of Exhibitors

FRANKFURT, Germany – The Messe Frankfurt Group reported that for the 2015 edition of Prolight+Sound and Musikmesse, held April 15-18, a total of 2,257 exhibitors from 57 countries gathered to feature their latest lighting, audio, video (and, on the Musikmesse side, musical instrument) products. The event’s overall exhibitor count grew from 2,216 in 2014, bolstered by an increase from 898 to 928 exhibiting companies for Prolight+Sound, the fastest-growing portion of the massive show.

Scene Designer Douglas W. Schmidt to Visit NYC’s Drama Book Shop April 30

NEW YORK – Broadway and regional scene designer Douglas W. Schmidt will be in New York City on Thursday, April 30, to celebrate the release of a new book on his work, The Designs of Douglas W. Schmidt, at The Drama Book Shop, 250 W. 40th St. Schmidt will participate in a Talk Back interview at 5 p.m., followed by a book-signing and wine and cheese reception with the book’s authors, Annie and Barry Cleveland. Schmidt, who was recently awarded USITT’s 2015 Distinguished Achievement Award in Scene Design, is pictured here at the awards presentation last month in Cincinnati with USITT’s Michelle Harvey.
