LAS VEGAS — In mid-2014, the Event Production Directory (EPD), long the Bible of working event planners and production professionals, made the jump from the printed page and Internet browsers onto iPhones and other iOS devices. Now, less than half a year later, a version of the EPD App can be used on Android devices as well.

SHARPSBURG, GA – Since moving into a new 900-seat auditorium 18 months ago, South Metro Ministries has been progressively growing each production in their new space.  Their latest event, a Christmas spectacular titled “What a Glorious Night” used gear from 4Wall Nashville to make the lighting experience one those in attendance would remember.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Widespread Panic has been on the road for their fall tour, but they continued their tradition of closing out the year in grand style as they performed at the Times Warner Cable Arena. Bandit Lites worked with lighting designer Paul Hoffman to light the event.

AUSTIN, TX – Founded in 2004 by Don Pugh and Robert Mokry, LightParts recently celebrated their tenth anniversary as the first dedicated lighting parts and repair center for the entertainment industry. This year, the company is also marking 10 years since Chris King joined LightParts. King (pictured here, center, and flanked, L-R, by Mokry and Pugh) is known as the company’s “king of electronics repair.” 

ALBANY, NY — American Jam band moe. ended 2014 with a sold out concert at The Palace Theater in Albany, NY. LD Preston Hoffman once again made Robe Pointe moving lights the centerpiece of his rig. The lighting for this special one-off – which also celebrated the start of moe.’s 25th year – was designed as a larger version of their recent touring system which had featured 12 Pointes hung on a custom structure and used to create most of the signature looks.

NASHVILLE — Morris Light & Sound has been stocking up on Clay Paky lighting fixtures, MA Lighting’s grandMA consoles and MDG’s theONE fogger/hazers.  All are distributed in North America by A.C.T Lighting, Inc.

AUSTIN, TX — A rock ’n’ roll institution for more than 50 years, the Isley Brothers embody high energy live performance, and still make audiences want to kick their heels up and ‘shout.’ For a recent radio station one-off, the group’s LD, Edward Brantley of Storyteller Lighting Design, got to put High End Systems’ Shapeshifter C1 fixtures through their paces. Brantley said he’s glad to have the C1s in his designer arsenal.

NEW YORK — Prominent TV lighting director Carl Vitelli, Jr., 81, died Jan. 7, 2015. A recipient of IATSE Local One Honorary Gold Card in 2011 (pictured here), Vitelli was also inducted into the Emmy Awards’ New York Chapter Silver Circle in 2001.
