LOUISVILLE, KY – Sam White of MSI Production Services used 12 Chauvet Professional Q-Wash 560Z-LED fixtures at Senator Mitch McConnell’s victory celebration here on Election Night 2014. And although TV networks rarely see things eye to eye on election night, when it was over, virtually every TV crew member from NBC and ABC to CBS and Fox came over to thank him for making their jobs easier.

LOS ANGELES – LD Cosmo Wilson opted to give an all-LED PAR rig a try for a recent corporate event featuring the rock band, Foreigner.  The rig included 64 of GLP’s new high-powered X4 LED fixtures. Wilson was pleased with the results.

LAS VEGAS — Elation lighting plays an integral part in the lighting design by Steve Lieberman of SJ Lighting at Victor Drai’s new Drai’s Beach Club & Nightclub atop the Cromwell Hotel. The Lieberman chose 28 Platinum Spot 5R Pro fixtures, 30 Platinum Beam 5R Extremes, 32 Protron LED Strobes, 56 Cuepix Strip WW units and 24 Rayzor Q12 Zooms for the 65,000 square foot, indoor-outdoor venue.

LAS VEGAS — When the 2014 Parnelli Awards take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nov. 22, it will be the 14^th time the event has been staged, and the first time Patrick Stansfield will not be able to attend. Stansfield died Oct. 28 in Burbank, CA at age 70. While his physical absence will be conspicuous, the 2014 event — and those to come — will remain infused with Stansfield’s passion for excellence, a lasting legacy that will be plainly evident everywhere you turn.

NEWPORT, RI – For a recent corporate event, JDI Productions accented the architecture of historically significant Fort Adams here. Mark Kuepker, JDI Productions’ project manager for the event, noted how Chauvet Professional’s WELL 2.0 fixtures met the strategic needs of the project. Even though the historic fort had ample power supplies, Kuepker noted that the battery-powered fixtures were easy to set up and eliminated the possibility that guests might trip on power cords.

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Church of the Highlands now has 10 locations and more than 30,000 active members. When it came time to upgrade the lighting on its 10 campuses, the megachurch turned to Martin Professional Lighting. The main campus deploys Martin’s MAC Viper moving head luminaires and MAC 250 wash lights. Martin’s MAC 101s are also used at each of the church’s locations.

LAS VEGAS  — The world’s tallest observation wheel, The High Roller, now rises above the cityscape of Las Vegas, illuminated by fixtures from Harman’s Martin Professional’s Tripix range of products. The installation includes 1,120 Tripix 300 fixtures, 1,008 Tripix Wash fixtures, 560 Tripix Power IP66 power supplies and four MAC Viper fixtures.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The addition of two massive 5mm pixel LED NanoCurve displays is providing a new source of advertising revenue for the Minneapolis Convention Center. “NanoLumens displays create a clear and detailed image that transforms the Main Corridor into a showcase of 21st century technology,” said Derek Burns of Tierney Brothers Integration. “I fully expect that the investment in digital signage will pay back in a short amount of time.”

LOS ANGELES – Sixty Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures and a complement of grandMA2 consoles were used for the “Stand Up to Cancer” TV special. The Sharpys were used as strong beam lights and for their Sharpy dappling technique, explained LD Felix Peralta.  “Giant white walls acted as video projection surfaces, which we enhanced with accents of color or Sharpy dappling – treating the scenic pieces with the high-output fixtures to create a nice effect that you can’t get with a hard-edged light.  It was a big part of the look of the show.”

ROME — Mario De Sisti, a lighting designer who founded the De Sisti Lighting in early 1982, died Oct. 31, 2014. Survivors include sons Fabio and Sergio De Sisti, who plan to continue the company’s legacy of innovation with lighting and rigging product technologies, building on past successes that have advanced flicker-free lighting for television applications and such rigging innovations as motorized self-climbing hoists. Funeral services were held in Rome on Nov. 3, 2014.
