PITTSBURGH, PA — When the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins made their entrance for the first hockey game of the 2014-2014 season, the team’s fans were already pumped up. NEW YORK — The start of football season marked several changes for the iconic “Inside the NFL” program, which airs on Showtime and The NFL Network.  Chief among them was a move to CBS Studio 42 and implementation of a new lighting package by lighting designers Christopher Landy and Abigail Wells of Vibrant Design LLC with equipment supplied by WorldStage.

AUSTIN, TX – They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the 75,000 people who poured into Zilker Park’s 46-acres for the Austin City Limits Music Festival were about to experience live music in a big way. Bandit Lites worked with the design team 3SRCreative to provide lighting for the massive event where more than 130 musical acts performed.

BURNABY, BC — If dance productions are traditionally a pas de deux between dance and lighting movements, with choreographed dance routines dictating the sway and flow of illumination, there’s no law saying you can’t reverse the creative process and give lighting the creative leading role. For the culmination of MovEnt’s annual project called “Today in the Theatre,” LD Robert Sondergaard did just that, with an assist from Martin fixtures provided by Christie Lites.

ATLANTA — Hip hop duo OutKast hit the road this year for the first time in a decade. The 20^th anniversary featured three nights of hometown performances Sept. 26-28 at Centennial Olympic Park here. LD/programmer Daunté Kenner of DK Production Design shaped the looks and Atlanta Sound and Lighting provided the gear, which included Elation’s new Platinum SBX moving head fixtures.

LAS VEGAS — The Cyndi Lauper/Harvey Fierstein staged musical collaboration, Kinky Boots, a hit in Chicago in 2012 before its successful 2013 Broadway debut, kicked off its first national tour at the Smith Center here on Sept. 4, 2014 with a PRG-supplied lighting rig specified by LD Kenneth Posner. The tour rig includes 18 COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour fixtures from Chauvet Professional. PRG also provided gear for Kinky Boots’ pre-Broadway and Broadway engagements.

CINCINNATI, OH — Terrence Spivey, artistic director at Cleveland’s historic Karamu House theatre, will deliver the keynote address at USITT’s 2015 Annual Conference & Stage Expo, which is set to take place at Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati from March 18-21, 2015. Spivey will open the four-day convention for technical theatre professionals, which is expected to draw close to 5,000 members of the backstage industry.

NASHVILLE, TN – For Garth Brooks’ recent shows, Bandit Lites provided lighting gear including recently-purchased Robe Robin 1200 LEDWash fixtures. LD Dave Butzler used the fixtures to create a variety of eye candy effects and color patterns along with wash coverage.

Primeview USA has teamed with Lightware USA and High Resolution Systems to feature the manufacturers’ equipment in their Partnership Showroom. The models shown include the MX-FR17 17×17 Digital Matrix Router populated with HDMI 1.4 inputs and outputs that handle up to 4K resolutions and HDBaseT outputs. Some HDBaseT outputs of the Lightware matrix are directly connected to HDBaseT inputs on the Primeview displays and other are connected to Lightware HDMI-TPS-RX95 HDBaseT receivers.

For pop band St. Lucia’s fall tour, Production Manager Gordon Droitcour designed a self-contained, auto-triggering, midi-controlled system for both lights and video. The show is based from the band’s existing backing tracks which triggers lighting cues via software lighting consoles and video files via an ArKaos Media Master. All lighting and video products are serviced through Elite Multimedia.

DAVIE, FL – The Design Oasis added 96 Chauvet Professional Nexus Aw 7×7 panels, which are now being used in the lighting rig on America’s Got Talent. “The Nexus Aw 7×7 impressed us as soon as we saw it. We were blown away by its intense sharp beams, and immediately thought there were a million ways this light could contribute to concert and broadcast designs,” said Design Oasis founder Luccas Oliveira.
