Christie Launches Experiential Network For Cinema Lobbies

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Christie’s new media initiative, Christie Experiential Networks, will be introduced during ShowEast, Oct. 27-30, in Hollywood, Florida. The new venture allows the company to supply technologies and digital content to exhibitors’ lobbies through formats such as the double-sided digital standee, the experiential video wall and the hero screen.

Colbie Caillat Tours with Elation Cuepix Light Cubes

LOS ANGELES — Grammy Award-winning singer Colbie Caillat toured the U.S. through the summer beneath a new lighting design from LD Kenneth Gribbon of Pulse Lighting that included Elation Cuepix Panel LED matrix blinders. Denver-based Steelfab LLC worked the LED fixtures into custom-fabricated scenic light cubes for the tour.

Miss America Pageant Lit with Clay Paky Sharpy Washes, grandMA2 Consoles

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Atomic Lighting (Lititz, PA) provided gear to light the 53 contestants in the Miss America beauty pageant, which returned to Boardwalk Hall here Sept. 14 and was telecast on ABC. LD Allen Branton specified a rig that included two dozen Clay Paky Sharpy Wash fixtures controlled by grandMA consoles for the 88th pageant. Felix Peralta and Kevin Lawson served as lighting directors and Laura Frank as the screens producer and media programmer for the event. A.C.T Lighting distributes Clay Paky and MA Lighting’s grandMA products in North America.

Tonight Show LD Uses Nexus for 5 Seconds of Summer

NEW YORK — When LD Fred Bock of Ferri Lighting Design & Associates (FLDA) in New York saw the Nexus 4×4 LED panel from Chauvet Professional at LDI last year, he made a mental note. “I thought they did a nice job and could be a good replacement for halogen matrix panels,” he said. “They seemed like a nice solution looking for a challenge.” Recently, Bock found a challenge that was tailor-made for the Nexus.  The Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer (pictured here) was appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where Bock is the LD.
