Feld Entertainment’s “Marvel Universe Live” Gets XSF Assist

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX –  Feld Entertainment’s live-action arena tour, Marvel Universe Live, has been getting an assist from an automated stage set crafted by Xtreme Structures & Fabrication (XSF), based here. XSF provided an eight-tower ground support system for the stage set with a 35-foot vertical wall that rotates downstage to transform into a stage deck.  The stage set also included a large half pipe and landings for stunts during the show.

ETC Upgrade Program Gives UNCSA Venues a Fresh Start

MIDDLETON, WI — Earlier this year, ETC unveiled the 2014 Theater program, which allows venues to upgrade their existing ETC lighting systems without the need for a costly retrofit. The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) was one of the first to participate. UNCSA upgraded three of its seven on-campus venues with new ETC dimming systems, including the Agnes de Mille Theatre, a 188-seat proscenium stage used primarily for opera and dance, pictured here..

USITT Accepting Nominations Through Dec. 15 for Wally Russell Mentoring Award

CINCINNATI, OH — USITT is accepting nominations through Dec. 15 for the Wally Russell Mentoring Award, to be presented here at USITT 2015  in March. Russell, a Canadian LD and TD, had leadership roles at University of Toronto, the National Ballet, Strand Lighting USA, Theatre Projects Consultants and the Los Angeles Opera before his death in 1993.
