NASHVILLE — Audio, video and lighting production was provided by Elite Multimedia Productions for this year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards celebrating Christian music. EMP used a variety of gear to enhance the Fan Zone experience. Visuals included a FLEXCurve LED video screen created by PixelFLEX, ETC Source 4 Lekos, Chauvet Color Battens and Slim Pars and a GrandMA 2 Lite Console. For the Fan Zone Music Stage, a Digidesign Venue SC48 was at front of house with Yamaha 5D monitors. A PixelFLEX FLEXCurtain LED wall, Martin Mac 700’s and PixelFLEX CM12 lighting fixtures were the foundation of the visual production. 

For his five dance pieces in Nanyan Academy of Fine Arts’ graduation show, LD Jonathan Sin chose the Source Four LED Lustr+ luminaires as sidelights to support the tungsten Source Four fixtures in his design. “This decision allowed me to have very flexible color-changing options while minimizing the rig on my side booms to four fixtures per boom,” describes Sin.

LD Richard “Shaggy” Ehmcke relied on an Avolites Titan Mobile console for this year’s Summerland tour by Everclear, Soul Asylum, Eve 6 and Spacehog. The console’s small size and ability to switch out programming for different fixture types is what sold him on the Titan. “I’m not carrying any lights at all, so I’m putting the console itself and my mind through paces. So if today’s an all-LED gig, okay, cool. I’ve got all the LED programming playback stored in the playback pages, so let’s bring that back down and put in some handles, and we’re an LED deck. Last night was 180K of par cans. Cool. All the LED programming goes back into playback storage, and let’s pull out the par can pages, and touch everything up here,” he explained.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Clay Paky Shotlight Wash fixtures were used for two back-to-back concerts in May: the MMR*B*Q, the annual show from Philadelphia rock radio station 93.3 WMMR, and the WRFF-FM Seventh Birthday Show. Clay Paky’s Shotlight Wash combines a 1500W discharge lamp wash light and a 3000W Xenon lamp strobe in one device.  The two wash/strobe functions are perfectly integrated and can be operator-controlled with either simultaneous or separate operation and special effects.

New York, NY- The historic Beacon Theatre recently upgraded its lighting with a package of brand new products from 4Wall New York. Long renowned for its audio experience, the theatre chose Martin MAC Auras, Philips Showline SL Bar 620s, and an MA Lighting grandMA2 Console as the pieces that would enhance the visual experience of patrons for years to come. The Beacon Theatre, a 2,800-seat venue located at Broadway and 74th street in Manhattan, was built in 1928 and designed in the art deco styling of the day by architect Walter Ahlschlager. The ornate architectural design of the Beacon dictates to the design team what lighting positions are possible.

LAS VEGAS — The 2014 ballot that forms the basis of the Hometown Hero Lighting Company of the Year competition has been finalized. KVLA Television in Huntington Beach, California, a unique TV station that broadcasts to the large Vietnamese speaking community in Southern California, has recently added two new studios and is using LED strip lighting from Elation Professional to color the sets. Christian Choi of Emergent Entertainment Group was production and lighting designer, as well as fabricator for the project, and explains that the client initially sought to create three areas within two studios – a segregated news area, two talk shows and a home shopping set (which was eventually postponed).

Greenwich, CT – Ask any music critic to make a list of the most influential guitarists of all time, and it won’t take long before the names “Santana” and “Guy” appear. Carlos Santana and Buddy Guy have garnered 16 Grammy Awards between them, and for one magical night this summer, the two guitar virtuosos performed on stage at The Greenwich Town Party under the light of 22 Legend 230SR Beams from Chauvet Professional.
