LONDON – Award winning lighting designer Francis Clegg applied his imagination and magic to the latest Snarky Puppy UK tour, where his penchant for creating interesting and different visual environments is perfectly suited to the band’s improvisational instrumental jazz-pop sounds.Colour Sound Experiment was delighted to be the lighting and video supplier for the tour. The west London based company has worked on other projects with Francis, part of creative practice design MIRRAD, including most recently, Giggs and Kano. “You know that a design will look fresh and alternative when Francis’ name is on it,” commented Colour Sound’s H (Haydn Cruickshank).

TURKS and CAICOS  – Beaches Resorts in the Turks and Caicos Islands offer activities for people of all ages, not to mention convenient access to some of the Caribbean’s best beaches. Lighting designer Lisa Weinshrott Kimmel, of Sharp Edge Lighting Design, was recently brought onboard to design lighting for a theatre project at the vacation resort and found an Elation rig at her disposal.

VENICE, Italy – ‘Protected Paradise’ is a 12 meter high mixed media installation created by Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen. Located in the garden of the Palazzio Francetti for the 2017 Biennale di Venezia contemporary visual art exhibition. Luc Peumans of Painting with Light lit the work using, among other fixtures, the specialty StarEye fixture from Antwerp-based Lux Lumen.

AMSTERDAM, –  Armin van Buuren turned the tables on 12 and 13 May during his show ‘The Best of Armin Only’ in the Johan Cruijff Arena. For the second time in 6 months, InventDesign was the preferred party to cater the LEDs for yet another spectacular lightshow. Last October, the company catered the lights for the Amsterdam Music Festival, which also took place in the Johan Cruijff Arena. The special lightdesign, which was designed by 250K for the show, didn’t stop with an impressive stage. InventDesign provided the full length and width of the Johan Cruijff Arena with vertical and horizontal pendant LED strips, with the shortest vertical variations being at least 8 meters long.

A Little Night Music for Robe at RADA

LONDON – Award winning lighting designer Paul Pyant returned to London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) to light a production of the Steven Sondheim classic, A Little Night Music directed by Edward Kemp and staged at RADA’s Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre in central London. Robe enjoy a close ongoing working relationship with RADA, making their latest technologies available for students to use across the three main venues. Paul’s design for this production utilized Robe’s DL7S LED profiles and the new Spiider LED wash beam moving lights, together with other moving and conventional fixtures.
