Showlight 2017 Announces that Exhibitor Spaces are Sold Out!

FLORENCE, Italy – The tenth Showlight quadrennial, the full speaker program of which was announced last month, takes place in just three months (20-23 May) at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence, Italy. It is with delight we report that all exhibitor spaces have sold out – we even managed to squeeze in a few more due to popular demand! The latest exhibitors to be welcomed on board are AED, Elation Professional BV, PRG, SGM and Music & Lights. Avolites Quartz creates magic for Wicked the Musical in Tasmania

AUSTRALIA: One of Tasmania’s leading lighting designers, Gareth Kays, used an ultra-compact Quartz console from British manufacturer Avolites to program the magical lighting and special effects on the Australian island state’s production of blockbuster Broadway musical Wicked. The show ran at Hobart’s Theatre Royal from 27 January to 11 February. Featuring spectacular staging and a 17-piece orchestra, the musical was put on by local production company The Show Company.

Major Corporate Event at RAI Amsterdam Lit with 600+ Robe Fixtures

AMSTERDAM – Seven halls of Amsterdam’s RAI expo center hosted an annual two day event for a well-known brand. The technical production – lighting, audio, video, rigging and special FX – for all areas was delivered by Breda based Unlimited Productions B.V., who sourced more than 600 Robe moving lights for the occasion. Several lighting designers were involved, working under the supervision of Unlimited Productions across the different areas with their own Bert Kelchtermans designing the general plenary session in Hall 8 for 7,000 people.

THE ONE Grand Show Counts on Claypaky for a Dream Production

GERMANY – The Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin has once again been publicly acclaimed, for “THE ONE Grand Show”: on the biggest stage in the world, more than a hundred artists gave life to a show whose extravagant costumes were designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The story revolves around an abandoned revue theatre, which is awakened from its deep sleep by an underground party. One of the party-goers gets lost in the magical aura of the venue, and the director of the former theatre brings back memories of the olden days.

EUROPE – Grammy-award-winning metal band, KoЯn, embarks on a tour of mainland Europe in March, starting in Zurich with a set that features Ayrton MagicPanel™-R fixtures as the focal point of the lighting design. The 17-date tour follows on from North American and UK legs which were supplied by Morpheus Lights in the US and Neg Earth in the UK respectively, with Black Box of Germany assisting for the forthcoming Europe leg.

PR Lighting Goes Waterproof at GET Show 2017

MDG ATMe Haze Generators Go Along for The Ride

UK – Two of the very latest MDG haze generators, the ATMe, recently joined up-and-coming British rock band, Catfish and the Bottlemen, playing arenas during a three-week tour of the UK in support of the band’s second studio album, The Ride. Newcastle-based Nitelites supplied the full lighting, audio and staging to the tour and hired the MDG ATMe haze generators from Impact Productions, which purchased two of the models specifically for the tour.

Once again an equally fantastic lighting, set and visual design was created by Gunther Hecker working in close collaboration with Marc Lorenz. Their lighting rigs frequently contain Robe fixtures and this one followed that very trend with 60 Pointes that were integral to the epic yet raw show aesthetic developed by Gunther.
