BUCHAREST, Romania – The Bucharest Ladies Orchestra performed with Romanian jazz singer and TV personality, Ozana Barabancea, recently at Bucharest’s Aqua Parc Crangasi for an audience of 2,000. The European Cultural Center (Sector), promoters of the event, once again enlisted Temple Media, PR Lighting distributors, to provide the technical infrastructure. Sergiu Ardelean, Lighting Designer and DP at Romanian Television, came up with the imaginative lighting plot, working with Temple Media.

The new Dubai Water Canal, inaugurated Nov. 9, is a $550 million project extending Deira Creek, linking Business Bay to the Arabic Gulf. It also includes a shopping center, four hotels, 450 restaurants, luxury housing, bridges, walkways and bicycle paths — and a cascade of water lit with Helios Bronze FC underwater LED fixgtures from DTS.

BANGKOK, Thailand –  The Road to Ultra Festival took place in Thailand for the third consecutive summer in 2016. A Milos roof was used to cover a 52 meter wide stage for the EDM festival, which is affliated with the Ultra Music Festival in Florida. The project used M390L (QTL) truss, which supported hundreds of video tiles, two 4x4x2 meter video screens, two 4x2x2 meter video screens, one 5 x 3 meter video screen, as well as additional lights and P.A.

WINDHOEK, Namibia – Robe BMFLs, LEDBeam 1000s, Pointes and other moving lights provided by leading Namibian technical production specialist dB Audio illuminated the Namibia Breweries Ltd (NBL) site in Namibian capital Windhoek for the launch of the country’s first biomass boiler. The boiler was inaugurated by Namibian Vice President Dr Nickey Iyambo in a high profile ceremony for which dB Audio provided full technical production for Sindana Communications who delivered the project to end client, NBL owners Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group.

WESTERLO, Belgium  For Albert 1, a new musical produced by Simon de Merode and staged around and on a series of pontoons floating on the moat of the Westerlo Castle in Belgium, LD Michel Jacobs lit the 150 by 100 meter performance space with Robe moving lights including 20 Robe BMFL Blades as the main fixtures. The sold-out show was seen by 1,850 people a night over two weeks.

LONDON – The production behind British comedian Ross Noble’s latest stand-up tour ‘Brain Dump’ has turned to a tourable lighting control system for the first time. The team has invested in an Avolites Titan Mobile console to power the eccentrically brilliant set, made of giant inflatable light bulbs each with an LED light source at its core. Production manager Shaun Weager, who has worked with Noble since 2012, came up with the 16-ft high dream-like design in response to a creative brief Noble ingeniously constructed using his daughter’s Play-Doh

SHIZUOKA, Japan –  Lighting designer Scott Zielinski used Robert Juliat’s Dalis 860 cyclorama washlights to light the backdrops for the theatre production of Richard Sandaime, a co-production between the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and the Singapore International Festival of Arts. The theatrical production premiered at the Shizuoka Arts Theatre in Japan as part of its World Theatre Festival 2016 earlier this year.

MEXICO CITY – The 15th edition of the annual Las Lunas Del Auditorio – the Mexican live performance and music industry’s prestigious awards – was staged at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, a star-studded event honoring national and international talent with 23 awards and nine dynamic live artist collaborations. Once again, the lighting was designed by one of Mexico’s best known LD’s Tiffy (German Castellanos), with more than 100 Robe fixtures on the rig, supplied by top rental company LED Project.

PARIS — On Nov. 13, 2015, gunmen stormed the Bataclan as an Eagles of Death Metal concert was underway. Part of a coordinated terrorist attack on the city that left 130 dead, 90 were killed at the venue. On Nov. 12, 2016, the venue reopened, featuring a concert by Sting. Proceeds from the Sting concert, which sold out in 30 minutes, went to charities helping victims’ families and survivors.
