NELSON, NEW ZEALAND – A prominent rocky outgroup in Tasman Bay, Nelson’s Fifeshire Rock was once feared as a shipping hazard. In years since, it has become one of New Zealand’s treasured national landmarks.  Standing some 14 meters above the high tide mark, it  is often the subject of photography and artworks. Recently, Nelson’s Civic Trust desired to make the rock an round-the-clock attraction by lighting it. To accomplish this, MDR Sound & Lighting supplied AV Architects Ltd with a CHAUVET Professional Rogue RH1 Hybrid fixture.

CZECH REPUBLIC – Milos has just released a second video as part of a three-month push to increase awareness about its crowd barriers. In this video, Area Four Industries R&D director Marc Hendriks provides information on the technical design and construction of Milos barriers, as well as their optimal use in real world situations.

LONDON — YouTube needed an assist with three studios — two which were double height — where YouTubers with more than 10,000 subscribers could book free studio time for content creation. The company turned to lighting consultant Peter Daffarn, who worked with Photon Beard and Doughty for a rigging assist.

BUCHAREST, Romania – The Bucharest Ladies Orchestra performed with Romanian jazz singer and TV personality, Ozana Barabancea, recently at Bucharest’s Aqua Parc Crangasi for an audience of 2,000. The European Cultural Center (Sector), promoters of the event, once again enlisted Temple Media, PR Lighting distributors, to provide the technical infrastructure. Sergiu Ardelean, Lighting Designer and DP at Romanian Television, came up with the imaginative lighting plot, working with Temple Media.

The new Dubai Water Canal, inaugurated Nov. 9, is a $550 million project extending Deira Creek, linking Business Bay to the Arabic Gulf. It also includes a shopping center, four hotels, 450 restaurants, luxury housing, bridges, walkways and bicycle paths — and a cascade of water lit with Helios Bronze FC underwater LED fixgtures from DTS.

BANGKOK, Thailand –  The Road to Ultra Festival took place in Thailand for the third consecutive summer in 2016. A Milos roof was used to cover a 52 meter wide stage for the EDM festival, which is affliated with the Ultra Music Festival in Florida. The project used M390L (QTL) truss, which supported hundreds of video tiles, two 4x4x2 meter video screens, two 4x2x2 meter video screens, one 5 x 3 meter video screen, as well as additional lights and P.A.

WINDHOEK, Namibia – Robe BMFLs, LEDBeam 1000s, Pointes and other moving lights provided by leading Namibian technical production specialist dB Audio illuminated the Namibia Breweries Ltd (NBL) site in Namibian capital Windhoek for the launch of the country’s first biomass boiler. The boiler was inaugurated by Namibian Vice President Dr Nickey Iyambo in a high profile ceremony for which dB Audio provided full technical production for Sindana Communications who delivered the project to end client, NBL owners Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group.
