LONDON – Robert Juliat reports a successful experience at PLASA 2016 in London’s Olympia where it shared a stand with its exclusive UK distributor, Ambersphere Solutions. The focus was on Robert Juliat’s LED capabilities with the new Dalis 862 Footlight taking center stage. Launched officially at the show, Dalis 862 Footlight is a 150W LED batten of 48 white LED sources arranged in a double row. It shares RJ Dalis 860 Cyclight’s exclusive patented optical system of fixed micro optical asymmetric reflectors and delivers a tunable white from 6500K to 2200K.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, UK –  The eco-conscious Shambala festival – a three-day family-friendly event staged at a secret location in Northamptonshire UK, features a diverse and eclectic mix of music, art, cuisine and culture. Fineline, the Bristol based lighting and visuals rental company has been associated with the festival for 12 years, and it was the 9th  year for project manager Stu England who led a large crew. Fineline has celebrated a super-busy 2016 summer festival season.

SOUTH AFRICA – Innibos is an action-packed high profile arts and music festival staged in and around Mbombela (Nelspruit) in South Africa, presenting Afrikaans music, theatre, literature and visual arts. Lighting was designed by Johan Ferreira of BF Productions and Levan van der Merwe respectively … with kit supplied by MGG (Main) and EPH Productions (Rock), both companies have large rental stocks of Robe luminaires. Once again the festival featured Robe moving lights on the Main and the Rock performance stages.

HANNOVER, Germany – One of Germany’s most influential artists of recent years is pop rapper Cro, who is just wrapping up an “MTV Unplugged Open Air” tour that played dates across the country this summer. Lighting design was by one of Germany’s preeminent designers, Gunther Hecker from CUE Design, who incorporated Elation Professional Platinum FLX hybrid moving heads supplied by German production company satis&fy.

LONDON – The International Arbitration Charity Ball, held Sept. 8 at Guildhall in London, brought together 600 high profile figures, firms and specialists for an evening of fine dining and spectacular fundraising. The event raised money for Save the Children’s Emergency Fund and has raised over £1,300,000 since the first event in 2010. The ball gives the Arbitration community the chance to come together, network, and support Save the Children. Following its work on other charity fundraisers, White Light was called upon to provide the production support for the evening.

SAO PAULO – Brazilian lighting rental company LPL, based in Sao Paulo, has invested in 90 Robe BMFL WashBeams to service their immediate and ongoing work. They will join over 400 Robe fixtures that the company currently has in stock. LPL services around 800 shows and events a year of different types and sizes, covering multiple sectors including music and concert touring, festivals, corporate events and brand activations and theatre and TV productions.

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taiwanese rockers Mayday are touring Asia with a lighting, visual and set design by LeRoy Bennett and Seven Designs from Los Angeles. Automate plays a key role in the elaborate lighting, video and set design, making use of 56 pieces of Kinesys automation. Rental and technical production specialist B’IN Live, which has its HQ in Taiwan with bases in China and Hong Kong, is supplyting the gear.

LONDON – Liquid Entertainment, a London-based company specializing in the production of elaborate, culturally diverse weddings, has opted to rely exclusively on Avolites to meet its lighting control needs. The company purchased two Avolites consoles, a Tiger Touch Pro and a Quartz, running Titan on both.

HERNING, Denmark — Fermaten is a busy community-based live music and performance venue in Herning, central Denmark. Accommodating close to 700, it’s home to about 140 shows a year. The venue has been operting for 26 years and recently invested in Robe moving lights, all supplied by Robe’s Danish distributor Light Partner, also based in Herning. The new fixtures from Robe included four DLS Profiles, eight DL4X Spots and 16 LEDBeam 100s.

BIRMINGHAM U.K. – Gaming event lighting guru Steve Thurkettle selected the Titan lighting and media control interface from British manufacturer Avolites to drive his complex audio-visual design for the 58th Insomnia Gaming Festival (Insomnia58), the UK’s biggest ever celebration of gaming culture. The event took place at the NEC in Birmingham over the U.K.’s bank holiday weekend Aug. 26-29.

THE NETHERLANDS, BELGIUM and FRANCE – Belgian engineering, animation and rigging specialists WIcreations had a busy summer supplying a selection of their standard rental products like WI Towers and WI Touring Track to a diverse variety of music festivals and live events, including Dominator 2016 (Strand Eersel, Netherlands), 2 Meisjes op het strand (2 Girls on the Beach, Little Beach in Ostend, Belgium), Decibel 2016 (Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands), EMF, Electro Beach Music Festival (Le Bacarès in France), the Nassau Festival (Amsterdam), Indian Summer (Geestmerambacht, Langedijk, Netherlands) and Pinkpop (Landgraaf in the Netherlands, pictured here.)

GLASTONBURY, U.K. — Arcadia Spectacular’s 50-ton spider sculpture, which has been impressing festival attendees since it appeared in Glastonbury in 2010, now makes use of 16 Robe BMFL WashBeams. The sculpture measures 55 by 60 feet (HxW).
