ANGLET, France – The Surf de Nuit is a unique concept gathering thousands of spectators each year in August on the Sables d’Or beach in Anglet, France. Listed in the official World Surf League (WSF) calendar, this competition sees 12 of the best professional surfers duke it out by night under the light of gigantic Airstar balloons. Equipped with LED-lined surfboards (lumiboard), the riders compete for this coveted League trophy and put on a real show with daring tricks.

JERUSALEM, Israel — For Armin van Buuren’s “Armin Only Embrace” show, a four-hour trance event that drew some 10,000 to the Pais Arena, LD Marc Heinz and Andre Beekmans from The Art of Light specified 300 Robe moving lights. Michael Seeverens, van Buuren’s touring lighting director, was at the controls.

UK – LED screen, drapes and special FX specialist S+H Technical Services is supplying their Glux 12mm LED screen to the current UK and European tour by maverick rock band 10cc which is celebrating 40 years since their seminal “Sheet Music” album. Released in 1974 this was their second album which received worldwide critical acclaim and remained in the UK charts for an incredible six months! It’s generally considered to be one of THE most influential studio albums of the 20th century.

AMSTERDAM –  For The Next Boy / Girl Band, a TV talent show produced for broadcast on SBS 6 in The Netherlands, Light-H-Art designer Bas de Vries and his assistant, programmer Joost Wijgers, are working with a rig that centers on 12 of GLP’s GT-1 hybrid Spot / Beam fixtures.

BUENOS AIRES  – For a recent concert featuring Argentina-based singer-songwriter Abel Pintos, Deligio-Producciones Técnicas provided Next NXT-1 moving LED panels from Chauvet Professional. Lighting designer Pablo Deligio, who co-owns the production company with his father Nestor Deligio, arranged 20 of the NXT-1 panels in four rows on a center stage truss grid for Pintos’ concert at Luna Park in the San Nicolás neighborhood of Buenos Aires. 

NEW DELHI. India – Modern Stage Service (MSS) recently supplied all technical production, including sound, trussing, LED wall — and PR Lighting fixtures — for a major concert by one of the world’s leading DJ/producers, Hardwell. This took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium sports arena in New Delhi. MSS supplied 20 XR 200 parallel beams for the Dutch electronic music star Appearing on his I AM Hardwell tour, the Dutch electro star performed before a sold out crowd of 15,000 people.

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkino Faso, Africa – PR Lighting fixtures reach some parts of the globe that other brands do not. One of the more obscure locations is Burkina Faso, the tiny landlocked country in West Africa. From there, sound engineer Henri Damien runs the successful pro-audio importation and technical supply company Datalinks, from his base in the capital, Ouagadougou.

PRETORIA, South Africa- Event Lighting is a new rental and production company near Pretoria, South Africa, offering lighting equipment and design services. It was founded by Peter Rieck of Rieck’s Lighting and Henry Jenkins of Eventech. The joint venture has started with an investment in Robe fixtures including 12 Robe Pointes and 24 Spikie fixtures, Robe’s new small, super-fast LED WashBeams. The company also has an inventory of LED PAR cans. They sourced the fixtures through DWR Distribution.

SUN VALLEY, CA –  GLP’s mighty X4 atom, the latest addition to its hugely popular X4 range, enjoyed its German television premier in the best possible way — when Thomas Gerdon selected 116 of the compact fixtures, containing the same high output quad color LED source common to the entire X4 range, for a new prime time series. They were used to light up the Capitol Theatre for a  Saturday night series on the RTL network called Mein Bestes Jahr — a retrospective in which Germany’s top comedians showcase the best and weirdest moments of their favorite year.
