Ehrlich Brothers Turn to WIcreations for Automation Assist with Frankfurt Stadium Show

FRANKFURT – When the Ehrlich Brothers needed a bit of special production magic to move a giant set of scenic doors smoothly and horizontally on and offstage to top and tail the two acts for their impressive 2016 performance at the Commerzbank Stadium in Frankfurt, Germany, their production turned to Belgian automation specialist WIcreations.  “Magic – The Unique Stadium Show” is the first time that the magician duo has ever played a soccer stadium, and it also signaled the end of a sold-out 120-date arena tour by the Ehrlich brothers in spectacular style.

Sydney’s Whitlam Theatre Upgrades with Hog 4 Consoles

SYDNEY – The Revesby Workers’ Club in southwest Sydney is a regular stop for premiere touring acts. Its concert venue, the Whitlam Theatre, seats 750 in ‘dinner mode’ and 1,400 in theatre mode. The theatre is known for its big PA and excellent audio facilities, but, until recently, its lighting systems were struggling to keep up with the demands of modern touring acts. Revesby has changed all that with the purchase of High End System’s Hog 4 console plus a Playback Wing 4, bringing their venue back in line with the best in Australia.

LD Vince de Schinckel Uses Chauvet Fixtures for Festival Stage in Ghent, Belgium

GHENT, Belgium  – At the end of July every year, two million visitors gather on the medieval streets and market squares of Ghent, Belgium, for the annual 10-day Gentse Feesten, a music and arts festival with a 160-year pedigree. One of the more prominent stages is at the historic Sint-Baafsplein square. While Lambert provided his Zero 88 ORB XF control desk and a few fixtures including Chauvet Intimidator LED spots and GLP Atoms through his own business, Lambco, Entec supplied the power and data distribution, 11 Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 300s, 10 Martin MAC 700 Wash lights and eight overhead scaff bars.

Kyrgyzstan’s ‘Song of the Year’ Ceremony Lit with Martin Fixtures

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — For Kyrgyzstan’s second annual “Song of the Year” music awards, a variety of RUSH fixtures from Martin were deployed byKyrgyzstan’s Martin Professional dealer, Sound KG Rental Company. Russian LD Alexey Zhivanov used six MH 3 Beams and six MH 4 Beams, along with three Atomic 3000 DMX strobes to provide lighting effects. The light show was operated by Martin controllers, including the M2GO and M-Touch.

BERLIN, Germany – Elation Professional’s ACL 360 Matrix moving head panel showed its versatility on the 10th edition of the re:publica Conference in Berlin. Called Europe’s most popular conference on internet and society (think TED), the event took place May 2-4 at Station-Berlin in the heart of the German capital. The ACL 360 Matrix fixtures were used for a variety of purposes including background lighting for the stage, backlighting for camera and special effect lettering.

Knight of Illumination Awards 2016 Theatre Shortlist Announced

LONDON – The Knight of Illumination Awards (KOI) Theatre judging panel has announced its shortlist for this year’s ceremony, which will take place at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Sept. 18. Now in its ninth year, the KOI Awards honor international lighting and digital content designers working in the UK for projects involving TV, theatre and concert touring and events.
