MANCHESTER, U.K. – Adlib supplied lighting equipment and crew for the recent tour by UK rock band James who played a mix of UK arenas, academies and city hall venues in support of the band’s album, Girl At The End of the World, which was released in March. LD Chris Montrie worked with lighting crew chief Ben Hodgkins on a rig that included 16 Martin MAC Viper Profiles, eight MAC Viper Washes, 20 MAC Quantum LED washes, 16 Clay Paky Mythos and seven ETC Source Four profiles provided key lighting and specials, fitted with 26 degree lenses.

AARSCHOT, Belgium – LD Kristof van Mensel, part of the design and programming collective, TCF bvba (The Creative Factory), used close to 150 Robe fixtures to light Scala & Kolacny Brothers at the Stadsfeesthall in Aarschot. Scala & Kolacny Brothers, a Belgian women’s choir conducted by Stijn Kolacny with arrangements and piano accompaniment by Steven Kolacny, are performing a series of 20th anniversary concerts this year. The 750-capacity Stadsfeesthall is where they got their start.

LONDON – Il Divo, the vocal quartet comprised of male singers from the U.S., France, Spain and Switzerland that got its start in the U.K. back in 2003, has been touring in support of their Nov. 2015 album release, Amor & Pasión” (Love & Passion). HSL is supporting the tour with an expanded array of lighting fixtures in its inventory including Martin MAC Viper Wash DXs and MAC Aura XB moving lights. LD Dan Tiley, who is getting an assist for this tour from HSL project manager Andy Chatburn, is using a grandMA2 console for control.

MOSCOW – Moscow’s Helikon Opera re-opened with a gala concert in November 2015 after many years of reconstruction and refurbishment. Clay Paky’s long term Russian distributor, DOKA Center, prepared the specification and recommended Clay Paky fixtures. The venue has invested in almost 100 Clay Paky fixtures as part of the most recent modernization. These include 6x Alpha Spot HPE 1200; 16x Alpha Spot QWO800; 6x Alpha Wash HALO; 4x Alpha Wash 1200; 16x A.leda Wash K20; and 4x Alpha Profile 700 in the bigger hall and 6x Alpha Profile 700 ST; 6x A.leda B-EYE K20; 14x Sharpy; and 18x A.leda B-EYE K10 in the venue’s smaller performance space.

HEUVELLAND, Belgium – Clouseau, the maverick pop / rock band from Belgium, hit the road this summer with a new album Clouseau Danst (Clouseau Dances); a new sonic dynamic with the addition of a four-piece horn section; plus a vibrant new set and lighting design from leading European creative design practice, Painting with Light. LONDON – The Deftones, whose tour last fall was disrupted by the Paris attacks, arrived at Wembley’s SSE Arena at the beginning of June to play a large scale one-off show. The London show kicked off a series of European festival dates including Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park, Greenfield in Switzerland, Download in the UK and France, and Iceland’s Secret Solstice, with lighting support from Entec throughout the run. Entec’s full production lighting for the Wembley show included Ayrton Magicblade-R LED battens, Clay Paky Sharpy moving beams, Martin MAC Aura XB compact LED wash lights and MAC Viper Performance and Profile models, a large array of Atomic 3000 Strobes with colors and copious amounts of generic light sources.

DRESDEN, Germany – For Die MEGA 90er Live, a tour featuring popular bands from the 1990s, Atlantis Audio teamed with Dresden-based LTI and used lighting products from Lightpower’s stock. Among the various lights used on the tour were 16 Clay Paky Sharpys and 15 Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K20s, with a control setup that included two grandMA2 full-size consoles, two MA 4Port Nodes and two MA plus MK2 Video Processing Units (VPUs).
