PAIDE, Estonia – The multifunctional Paide Kultuurikeskus, located in the middle of Estonia, opened to the public in December 1987. In recent years, this cultural center has undergone significant improvements to its facilities to maintain its status as a national landmark, all while retaining its original and distinctive 1980s design features. The latest development phase incorporated the installation of a series of ETC ColorSource PAR luminaires.

Euroshow Moscow Demo at PL+S/NAMM Russia Includes Martin Fixtures

MOSCOW––Showcasing the talents of lighting designers Alexey Zhuravlev and Roman Vakulyuk, several Martin by Harman lighting fixtures were featured at Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia. There were several special events for the show’s attendees, including a unique project implemented by Euroshow Moscow. Demonstrations like this have become highlight attractions at many large professional audio/video tradeshows. The concept for the show was created by Alyona Morozova, and Zhuravlev and Vakulyuk joined the team during the programming.

AIDA Cruises’ New Luxury Flagship Launch Includes Clay Paky Fixtures

HAMBURG, Germany – LD Björn Hermann used Clay Paky Mythos and Scenius fixtures for the large-scale light show during the christening ceremony of AIDA Cruises’ new luxury flagship AIDAprima. Built by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding in Japan, the luxury liner holds up to 3,300 passengers. The christening ceremony took place in Hamburg during the port’s 827th anniversary celebrations in May. AIDA Cruises is Germany’s largest cruise ship company, with AIDAprima the eleventh addition to the fleet. The British/American owned company was established in 1960.

Eurovision Song Contest Rig Includes TourPro LightSky AquaBeam Fixtures

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The 61st Eurovision Song Contest has come and gone, but not without setting a whole host of firsts, one of which was the biggest international audience to date to witness the TourPro LightSky Aquabeam. Supplied by Litecom, 67 AquaBeam fixtures were used to illuminate the high-tech stage and interior of the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, where Eurovision 2016 took place.

Champions’ Figure Skating Event at Moscow Day Celebration Includes Lighting, Mid-Air Effects from Martin Fixtures

MOSCOW––As part of the Moscow Anniversary Day celebrations, the Luzhniki Arena turned up the excitement for the Vivat Russia! champions’ figure skating event with a creative and memorable lighting experience, using 80 Martin MAC 101 LED moving wash fixtures. Lighting designer Alexey Zhuravlev used Martin MAC 101 fixtures for the event. The project became a creative collaboration between Zhuravlev and Roman Vakulyuk. Together, they created a large set of lighting presets and scripts for every moment of the show, including the individual ice performances as well as the vocal and acrobatic events.

LD Tim Routledge Lights ELO Using Neg Earth-Supplied Robe BMFLs

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), who blended the sounds, rhythms and riffs of contemporary rock and pop with classical arrangements to produce a unique sound that was massively popular in the 1970s and 80s, recently hit the road again for the first time in 27 years. Led by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Lynne, one of the original founding members, the tour rig supplied by Neg Earth included 82 Robe BMFL Spots and 10 BMFL Blades. GLP Expanding in the U.K. Market

LEEDS, UK – GLP’s recently-established UK operation wasted little time in working to expand the use of its gear in the U.K. market as newly-appointed head of operations at GLP UK, Noel ‘Roly’ Smith (pictured here, left, with GLP’s Mark Ravenhill), made the rounds at a recent trade exhibition in Leeds. The company featured its hybrid GT-1 spot and beam fixture at the show along with the latest accessories in the X4 atom RGBW line up. Eurovision 2016 Setup Includes Philips Vari-Lite Fixtures

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Philips Lighting noted that Eurovision 2016 lighting designer Fredrik Jönsson used 40 Philips Vari-Lite VL3500 Wash luminaires to light the audience  for the big Euro music competition’s finals. The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was held at Stockholm’s Globe Arena and saw a live audience of 15,000 international fans, journalists and celebrities. Also, Eurovision announced official global viewing figures for the grand final reached 204 million.
