FRANKFURT, Germany – LD Björn Hermann was recognized with an award at Prolight + Sound earlier this month for his lighting design for an awards ceremony staged by the Fraunhofer Society in Wiesbaden, Germany last year. Hermann programmed more than 60 Clay Paky Sharpys to create an interactive “light orchestra” effect.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Philips Lighting noted a record number of booth visitors at this Prolight + Sound exhibition earler this month. The company featured products including the Philips Showline SL HYDRUS 350, Philips Showline SL PUNCHLITE 220 and SL STRIP 10IP luminaires, among others. The Entertainment team also credited Prolight + Sound’s new concept and the company’s new booth location in the Eastern section of the Messe complex for the boost.

ISCHGL, Austria – Muse is touring with Mojo Barriers’ specially-designed touring barrier as 160 linear meters of the system keeps crowds safe throughout the Drones world tour. Mojo Barriers was contracted to ensure audience and artist safety at all the U.S. and European dates of Muse’s nine month tour.

LONDON – Quantum Special Effects designed two new products for Adele’s sold-out world tour – a custom  tourable rain system and storm blasters that can deliver up to a minute of non-stop confetti across an entire arena. Working closely with Adele Live 2016 show designer Es Devlin and production manager Richard Young, Quantum is supplying gear for more than 100 shows across 44 arenas.

FRANKFURT, Germany –– ArKaos PRO noted that the recent Prolight + Sound exhibition in Frankfurt was one of the Brussels-based company’s busiest shows to date. Highlights of the stand included demos for the video mapping capabilities of the ArKaos PRO MediaMaster 4.2 software with an intricate array of 3-dimensional shapes outlined to perfection as projection surfaces and also a daily competition to find Europe’s fastest video mapper.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Ayrton’s light show, staged at the company’s double decker stand at Prolight + Sound, featured nine of the company’s most recenty introduced products. Exhibiting with its German distributor, Vision Stage, at a 224 square meter, double-decker booth, the light show was designed by Stéphane Migné and made use of more than 650 fixtures in all.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Robert Juliat noted that its booth at Prolight + Sound 2016, located in the middle of the Lightpower Village in Hall 3.0, drew considerable interest from visitors who stopped by to see the company’s array of Zep LED profile and Fresnel fixtures, Merlin 2500W HMI touring spots and the 300W LED Roxie followspot, and Dalis LED cyclorama light, which created the wash for the photo here..

HAMBURG, Germany – LD Jerry Appelt designed the lighting and set for dance / trance trio Scooter. The lighting rig incuded 22 Robe LED strobes. The overall look and feel of the show is stark and raw to match the energy of the band. The strobes were also chosen to allow the band to see right out into the audience and to the back of the hall as they blast into the arena at punctuating moments in their high energy set.

HONG KONG – GLP‘s impression LED range was out in force at the eighth Clockenflap, a three-day outdoor music and arts festival that took place in late Nov. 2015  in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District. For U.S.-based duo Ratatat, who performed on the Atum stage, AHM Engineering Co. Ltd. provided GLP fixtures including 52 X4 LED moving heads and 20 X4 Bar 10 high performance battens.

BORDEAUX, France – LD Arthur Oudin specified Robe BMFL Spot moving lights  for France’s Arlette Gruss Circus show, which embarked on its 2016 winter tour at the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux. Dushow supplied the 11 BMFL Spots, which replace older 1500W series moving lights from another manufacturer.

LONDON – For the re-launch of Virgin Radio, now heard via the DAB digital radio platform, the inaugural broadcast took place aboard a specially-lit Virgin train running from Manchester to London. Virgin Radio presenters Edith Bowman and Matt Richardson were aboard the running train to do their show, and so were a number of bands. Maestra London provided portable, battery powered lighting for the train’s 200-mile trip.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Clay Paky launched three new products for the first time internationally at ProLight+Sound 2016, the Scenius Profile, Hepikos and SharBar. The products were featured as part of the company’s demo/multimedia light show which accompanied the performances of some musicians and cover bands.
