Kinesys at Prolight+Sound Frankfurt 2016

FRANKFURT, Germany – Kinesys will exhibit at Prolight+Sound 2016 from April 5-8, Hall 3.0 on stand D15. The company will feature their automation products with live movement demoing Kinesys’ winches and the the integration between automation and media servers. A DST trolley system, built by trussing manufacturer LITEC and controlled by Kinesys, will be featured on stands for both companies. Four key standard Kinesys products will also be highlighted – Libra, Elevation, DigiHoist and Velocity2 (pictured here).

Attendee at Adele Concert in Scotland Injured in Rigging Accident

GLASGOW, Scotland — A woman attending the March 25 Adele concert at the 13,000-capacity SSE Hydro arena in Scotland was hit and injured by a length of chain that dropped from above during the show. The injured attendee was taken to the hospital “as a precaution,” according to a spokesperson for the venue. The chain that dropped appeared to be still hanging from the rigging after the accident, according to Facebook photos. Adele, who kept performing her two-hour set, unaware of the accident, found out about the mishap after the show.

Mariah Carey Birthday Concert Set for Brussels on Easter Sunday Canceled

BRUSSELS, Belgium — Mariah Carey’s current tour through the U.K. and Europe included a March 27 show — on Easter Sunday, and the artist’s birthday — at the Forest National Arena in Brussels, Belgium. There had been speculation that the Brussels show would be canceled after the March 22 bombings that killed 31 and injured more than 300. On Friday, March 25, with the Belgian capital still reeling from the tragedy and the city still on heightened alert — continuing raids and arrests on Friday included a man with explosives in a backpack who was shot and apprehended by police while waiting at a light rail stop — the not-so-surprising cancellation became official.

LED-Emblazoned FMX Bike Allows for Freestyle Stunts in the Dark

MANCHESTER, UK – Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Dan Whitby performed freestyle motocross stunts in the dark using an LED-emblazoned bike and W-DMX wireless lighting control. The sold-out event took place in Manchester Arena last fall and attracted 7,000 spectators. Shock FX provided the customized gear including several Enttec DIN LED modules powered by a LiPo cell battery in an eight-zone configuration.

Rudimental Gets Lighting, Rigging Assist from Colour Sound Experiment

LONDON – Jonny Gaskell, LD for British drum and bass band Rudimental, turned to Color Sound Experiment for lighting gear and rigging for most of the band’s recent tour, including a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena. The rig, which varied venue to venue, started off in C configuration as a floor package, then expanded to the A-rig for the O2, and was then re-worked onto a B version for the final dates in Europe.  Two trucks expanded to seven for the O2, and these were re-packed back into two.

Cunard’s Queen Victoria Ocean Liner Turns Purple for International Women’s Day

SYDNEY – As part of International Women’s Day, Cunard’s  Queen Victoria ocean liner featured a 60 meter long banner on her hull with this year’s campaign message, ‪#‎PledgeForParity. The ship also took on a purple hue as dusk fell in the city, reflecting the internationally recognized color for women’s rights. The event was managed by Event Emporium with lighting designed by Ziggy Ziegler and operated by Ben Ronczka. Chameleon Touring Systems supplied 31 Martin MAC Quantums, 16 Clay Paky Mythos, and two MA Lighting grandMA2 light consoles. The ship was lit until midnight from both sides as well as from the bow.

TMBG Performs at London’s Electric Ballroom Lit by Chauvet Gear

LONDON – The Electric Ballroom, a two-story venue in London with two dance floors and four bars, has a house rig that includes Rogue moving lights from Chauvet Professional. Lighting designer Victor Zeiser of Squeek Lights (New York) used them to light They Might Be Giants when they performed at the 71-year-old, 1,100-capacity venue on Feb. 4, complementing the house rig for that sold-out show with Chauvet DJ’s Intimidator Spot 355Z IRC fixtures supplied by Reading, U.K.-based Martin’s Lights.

Rig for 2016 Al Burda Awards in Abu Dhabi Includes Robe Gear

ABU DHABI, UAE – Terry Miranda and Dubai-based Lighthouse Productions designed and supplied the set and lighting design for the 2016 Al Burda Islamic Art Awards staged at the Abu Dhabi National Theatre in the UAE. Nearly 100 Robe fixtures were used, including 16 Robin 300 Beams, 12 ColorWash 575 ATs, 12 MMX Spots, 24 PARFect 100s, 12 Pointes and 16 CycFX 8s. Lighthouse has invested in Robe gear since 2004 and currently owns a large inventory of products.
