FRANKFURT, Germany – AV Stumpfl will be bring their live event, production and rental and staging innovations from their native Ausria to Prolight+Sound 2016. Featured products will include an 8K by 4K version of Wings Engine Raw, which will be demoed right on the AV Stumpfl stand. AV Stumpfl will also use their prolight+sound trade show presence to launch the brand new Wings Vioso 3D mapping module with a reinvented workflow for video projection mapping and design.

ABU DHABI, UAE – The Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), turned to live communication specialist People as the event management agency for the elaborate 2016 Qasr Al Hosn festival, which ran from Feb. 3-13.. Manchester UK based dbn Lighting design an overall scheme to light all the different areas of the site. Lead lighting designer Stephen Page and a team of seven designers and on-site LDs from dbn worked closely with Tom Ralston and Jonathan Godsmark from Eclipse Staging Services Dubai who provided all the lighting, AV, power and rigging equipment for the multi-day event.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Elation Professional will be featurig new technologies and products at Stand E85 in Hall 4 Prolight + Sound 2016  including the company’s new ZCL, DTW and Fuze series of products. Also featured will be the company’s Platinum SEVEN, a new 7-color LED wash luminaire along with a cyclorama wash luminaire; the TVL CYC RGBW, a floodlight for TV, film, theatre and broadcast applications; and the company’s X-Series of hybrid fixtures including the Platinum FLX and mid-sized Platinum HFX moving heads (HFX pictured here).

GUANGZHOU, China — The 21st Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE), set for June 9-12 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, promises a comprehensive seminar program along with extensive lighting exhibits. More than 100 sessions will be offered, including those focusing on design, the lighting market and technology.

GLASGOW, Scotland — Lighting designer Phil Supple (of Light Refreshment) has again turned to SGM’s P-5 IP65-rated wash light to create a mesmerising lighting ‘trail’ at the Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow for East Renfrewshire Council’s Electric Glen Festival.

MOSCOW — Lighting rental house Global Show Trade (GST) has set up a new showroom at its headquarters in Moscow, enabling many manufacturers, including PR Lighting, to demonstrate their products. Initially, GST began with a standard showroom for lighting equipment, but this developed into a full production area for some of the best practitioners in the city.

LONDON – Bristol, U.K.-base band Coasts rocked London’s Roundhouse in February with an atmospheric lighting show created by Tom Campbell using an Avolites Sapphire Touch and networked Tiger Touch II. Campbell’s consoles are loaded with Titan v9 for the tour, and he’s using an array of the new and powerful features available in the software. The Avolites consoles were supplied by Siyan.

ANTWERP, Belgium – For the annual Reverze hard-style dance indoor extravaganza, staged by Bass Events in the 20,000 capacity Antwerp Sportpalais on Feb. 27, engineering specialists WIcreations automated large scenic objects to tie in with the theme of this year’s event, “Deception.” The title alone presented the opportunity for visual fun. WI was commissioned by Bass Events under the technical production management of Kristof Devriese, to move and rotate two large trussing ‘cubes’ onstage, fly nine other objects above the stage and also fly nine other large scale lighting pods … over the audience.

FRANKFURT – Zero 88 will be exhibiting at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt – Stand B50 in Hall 3. Featured products include the FLX8, part of the company’s FLX family of lighting consoles. Also showcased will be new Remote and Monitor apps for all ZerOS consoles on iOS and Android (pictured here). These new free apps deliver more accessible remote operation of ZerOS consoles via mobile devices, with each app having a specific function.

SANTIAGO, Chile — Iron Maiden’s Boeing 747 was grounded after the plane’s connection with towing vehicles failed and it collided with the support vehicles. The accident happened early on March 12. Band, crew and gear were not aboard the plane during the accident. Two airport employees were injured.

PHOENIX – Innovative Show Design has designed and installed an all-LED lighting system for this technology talk show’s new contemporary studio. The show is now airing from a new facility in Phoenix outfitted with more than 100 LED lighting fixtures from Elation Professional and Acclaim Lighting. The setup includes Elation SixBar 1000 LED battens, SixPar 200 LED PAR color changers, Colour Chorus 12 LED battens, Colour 5 Profile ellipsoidal spots, DW Fresnel dynamic white light fixtures, Elar Q1 compact PAR lights, and TVL2000 and TVL3000 white light LED Fresnels along with Quad Eye LED downlights from Elation’s affiliated company, Acclaim Lighting.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – For  Simple Minds’ “Big Music” tour, LD Stephen Pollard expanded and scaled up the stage set and lighting rig he used in theatre venues last year, adding Robe BMFL Spot moving lights for extra visual impact as the band moved into larger venues and arenas. UK lighting and visuals rental company HSL invested in 50 new Robe BMFL Spots just before the tour went out, 24 of which were used by Steve.
