COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Danish rental company Comtech added Robe fixtures to its inventory for two consecutive years.  The initial purchase, and the company’s first in Robe, was for 40 Pointes in 2014. In 2015 they made a further investment with 50 BMFL Spots, which have been equally as well received, according to project manager Jes Christiansen. PERTH, Australia – Christie is showcasing a range of advanced visualization solutions at the 2016 Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG), at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, February 24-26.

LONDON – Colour Sound Experiment is supplying lighting equipment and crew  to the current European tour by synthpop duo Hurts, riding high on the success of their third album ‘Surrender’ with a production design by Rob Sinclair. Colour Sound invested in 100 x new Martin VDO Sceptron 10 LED battens for the tour for which lighting is being directed and operated on the road by Matt Arthur.

MEXICO CITY – Mexico’s Banda el Recodo has been making its distinctively engaging brand of music since 1938. The band’s lighting rig, controlled by LD Arturo Guevara, includes fixtures that are considerably younger. Guevara lights the 17 musicians with more than 140 fixtures from Chauvet Professional, including 84 Rogue RH1 Hybrid and 16 Rogue R2 Wash moving fixtures, 40 Next NXT-1 moving LED panels, six Atmos high-output fog machines, and 16 Data Stream 4 optical splitters.

MEXICO CITY – The people of Mexico enthusiastically welcomed Pope Francis to their country with a warm reception that included traditional songs and dances, heartfelt tributes and richly colored light from a collection of 24 Rogue R1 Wash fixtures from CHAUVET Professional.

LONDON – Curtain Up: Celebrating 40 Years of Theatre in London and New York at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, celebrates the extraordinary story of theatre in both London’s West End and New York’s Broadway. Created in partnership with The Society of London Theatre, the V&A and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, it explores the craftsmanship that goes into creating award-winning plays, musicals and productions.

CUIJK, The Netherlands – Dutch rental company Primetime Eventtechniek + Inrichting lost everything in a major fire last August that reduced their building to ashes. Devastated yet undeterred by the major setback, Primetime owner Patrick Michiels vowed to rebuild and wasted no time getting the company back on its feet with an admirable “full speed ahead” attitude and the recent acquisition of an Elation Professional lighting package. LYON, France – A total of 232 Robe moving lights – including 80 BMFL Blades, 70 LEDWash 1200s, 84  Pointes and eight LEDWash 300s – were part of a colorful opening ceremony for the new 415 million euro Grande Stade de Lyon in France. Lighting designer Tony Anzalone was working for Lyon based GL events Audiovisual, who coordinated and supplied the high profile event’s technical production.The grand opening show featured a high energy son et lumière with a cast of 1500 people culminated in a show-stopping performance by rapper will.i.am.

KASTRUP, Denmark – SVT Swedish Broadcaster has awarded [LITE]COM Group the contract to be the official supplier of all lighting, control, truss, rigging and automation for Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The event will be taking place at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on 10, 12 and 14 May 2016, hosted by Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw.

LONDON -The current completely sold out Strictly Live 2016 UK arena tour produced by Phil McIntyre Entertainments features an all-Robe moving light rig including 130 BMFLs. Robe noted that more than 80 of the 130 BMFLs were recently purchased by the tour’s lighting provider, Sonalyst.

SANREMO, Italay – LD Mattia Morganella lit Vasco Rossi tribute band La Combriccola del Blasco’s concert, staged at the Teatro del Casinò in Sanremo, with Clay Paky fixtures. Four rows of battens were hung at different heights on the ceiling. The last batten featured Clay Paky’s A.leda B-EYE K10s, chosen for a variety of uses and effects.

LIVERPOOL, U.K. – Adlib kicked off a busy 2016 touring season with a number of notable live artists including Irish singer/songwriter Hozier, for which they provided audio, lighting and crew to the recent UK and European tour.
