AMSTERDAM – During its yearly PIE event (Prolyte immersion event), which was held in Amsterdam from Jan. 10-12, Prolyte honored its distributing network by handing out awards for highest turnover levels, non-turnover related achievements and awards for special contribution.

BEIJING – For a production of Verdi’s Aida at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, LD Vinicio Cheli worked with an Italy-based design team including stage designer Ezio Frigerio, director Francesco Micheli, costume designer Francia Squarciapino and Sergio Metalli, who dealt with the video projections. Cheli also included fixtures from Italy-based Clay Paky in the rig – Alpha Profile 1500s and Alpha Wash 1500s.

AMSTERDAM – Avolites will be at on stand 8-K330 at ISE to feature its Ai R Series media servers and preview the feature-rich new Titan V10 software. The company’s redesigned, bespoke booth will feature a ‘Media Integration Focus’ area where visitors can get hands on with the latest in integrated lighting and video.

DENMARK – AV Center, a full technical production design and rental company with facilities in Odense, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Aalborg and Kolding, recently added to its inventory with 17 Robe DL4S RGBW LED profile fixtures, supplied by Robe’s Danish distributor, Light Partner.

PIATRA-OLT, Romania – Prolyte Group, manufacturer of trussing and staging systems, opened a new factory to meet rising demand for the company’s products. The total group manufacturing capacity will grow by 250 percent, according to the company.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – Wavelength Stageco Ltd (WSL) has invested in Elation Professional lighting products over the past few months, adding Elation SixPar 200 LED PAR lights, Colour Chorus 48 LED battens and Opti Quad Par LED color changers along with Platinum Beam 5R, Platinum Spot 15R Pro and Platinum Wash ZFX moving heads. LONDON – Nitelites LD Shaun Moore, who controlled a show for Frank Turner at Alexandra Palace recently, leveraged Avolites’ Titan V9 Multi-User feature to network a Sapphire Touch and Tiger Touch II. The Sapphire Touch served as the main console, with the Tiger Touch II (TTII) used as Multi User and Back up. The system ran Art-Net through a Main and Back Up Luminex System.

TEL AVIV, Israel – Israel-based lighting and audio rental specialist Mor Kol is supplying Robe moving lights for the current tour featuring Shimon Buskila, one of the country’s best-known and popular singer / songwriters. Twelve new Pointes and 12 MMX Spots are being used for the tour designed by Amit Freeman.

GIZA, Egypt — For Yanni’s sold-out, two-show run at the Great Pyramids of Egypt, which took place over the 2015 Halloween weekend, Prolite Event Solutions provided Martin’s MAC Viper AirFXs, MAC Quantum Washes, MAC 2000 Profiles and MAC 700 Washes. The shows were captured in 4K high-definition audio/video and will air in March as part of a PBS special entitled “Yanni: The Dream Concert – Live from the Great Pyramids of Egypt,” which will also be released on DVD and Blu-ray.

SAN PELLEGRINO TERME, Italy – The Casinò Municipale di San Pellegrino Terme turned to Clay Paky fixtures – including some vintage gear – for a lighting solution. LD Giuseppe Cividini incorporated more than 100 Clay Paky GlowUp LED uplighters along with older but still functional Clay Paky V.I.P. 300s and with a Clay Paky glass optical unit from 1995.

SHANGHAI, China – The Shanghai Grand Theatre (SGT) featured performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company. LD Nick Hung lit Graham’s classics with Source Four LED luminaires controlled by a Gio lighting-control system. ETC’s Chinese dealer, Hangzhou YiDaShi Lighting Equipment Co., Ltd., also played a significant role in the event by providing technical support for the show.

ULM, Germany – To commemorate 125 years since the completion of the 530-foot-high Ulm church tower spire, once the tallest man-made structure in the world, artist Rafael Lozano Hemmer worked with Airstar on a custom made air-filled Pendulair 600 balloon representing the sun. The balloon, six meters in diameter, weighed only about 55 pounds.
