FRANKFURT, Germany – In early October, the official celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Germany took place in Frankfurt am Main. To mark the occasion, a lighting installation designed by Sven Sören Beyer and Björn Hermann illuminated 25 bridges across the Main river as part of a spectacular light show on October 3. The lighting included gear from Clay Paky, an Osram subsidiary.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern (Royal Dramatic Theatre) in Stockholm recently added to its investment in Robe’s DL series. The venue, which staged performances in the Big Hall (720 seats) and Small Stage (340 seats) added five Robe DLS fixtures, specified by Small Stage Head of Lighting Jim Rasmussen. These fixtures join another six in use around the other stages.

LONDON – Robert Juliat noted that its LED cyclorama batten, DALIS, has been awarded the PLASA Award for Innovation at PLASA London 2015. DALIS is a unique, asymmetrical 300W LED cyclorama light, consisting of 48 LED sources arranged in a double row.

FRANKFURT, Germany – The 66th edition of IAA Cars, held Sept. 17-27, saw one of the biggest collections of GLP impression LED moving heads ever assembled under one roof. Taking place on over 2.4 million square feet of exhibit space at the Messe Frankfurt, leading manufacturers and their creative teams chose GLP impressions from right across the X4 range to deliver mission critical solutions.

SINGAPORE – Singapore’s Nanyang Polytechnic has invested in eight Avolites Quartz consoles for its Electronic Engineering course, which offers a specialist final year of AV System Design. Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) is located in Yio Chu Kang next to Yio Chu Kang MRT Station, Singapore. More than 15,000 students attend, on a campus of 30 hectares.

LONDON – The PLASA Awards for Innovation & Sustainability 2015 and the Gottelier Awards were presented at the PLASA Show at London’s ExCeL in early October. This year, 31 products were nominated for the Awards for Innovation & Sustainability, with eight awards presented, including a final Gold Award for Innovation.

KERKRADE, The Netherlands – As the Castle of Love open-air music festival returned for its tenth year, partygoers from across the continent flocked to the site for a weekend of dance music and good times. Following the use of ADJ products in 2014, lighting designer Tom Franken once again chose ADJ lighting to really bring the festival to life, putting some of his favorite fixture to the test on the festival’s main stage, and elsewhere.

LONDON – Twelve Clay Paky Mythos fixtures projected text and images onto the Tower of London in September as part of a celebrity charity event honoring wounded armed forces veterans. The initiative was launched to raise awareness of the Haig Housing Trust, which offers housing assistance to ex-service people. The week culminated in a fundraising event, ‘For Queen and Country’, to mark the charity’s centenary.
