READING and LEEDS, U.K. – British metalcore band, Bring Me the Horizon, recently rocked their high-profile main stage slots at the 2015 Reading and Leeds Festivals with a new lighting design by Ben Inskip. Jands’ flagship Vista L5 console controlled the looks.

LIVINGSTON, Scotland – Howden Park Centre, a multi-functional venue featuring a 300 seat theatre, three fully configurable studio spaces and two galleries and meeting rooms, hosts a vibrant and varied program of music, arts and performance. Technical coordinator Ian Gibson and theatre technician Stephen Oakes, who undertakes most of the show operation, are pleased with the venue’s Zero 88 FLX Lighting Console, acquired earlier this year.

ABBOTS RIPTON, U.K. — Avolites’ consoles and servers controlled diverse rigs on 12 major stages and further smaller performance areas at this year’s eclectic Secret Garden Party festival. More than 20,000 revelers traveled to Mill Hill Field in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire to experience the unique atmosphere and hear headliners including Public Service Broadcasting, Roots Manuva and Kate Tempest.

UK – The second series of Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain was broadcast on MTV, July/August 2015, with Utopium lighting up the star-studded show. The Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain television series, hit U.K. screens for a second year with new host, Radio 1 DJ, Nick Grimshaw. Utopium Lighting was entrusted to provide lighting for the three live music performances per show and exclusive interviews with Florence and the Machine, Rudimental, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Foals.

LONDON – Elation Professional’s new Emotion moving head digital luminaire (pictured here) will have its European debut Oct. 4-6 at the PLASA show in London. A number of the company’s other new technologies will also be on display at Elation Stand A40, including the world premiere of the newest Satura Series luminaire, the Satura Profile.

BRISTOL, UK – Arcadia’s giant fire-breathing spider, a big draw to the annual Glastonbury Festival, landed in the Queen’s Square in Bristol for an inner city festival dubbed Metamorphosis on Sept. 4-5. Some 20,000 attended the DJ event/visual extravaganza, which included three mini-spiders and the Lords of Lightning. CPL provided projection equipment and crew.

SHANGHAI, China — For the first Infinity Summer Festival, which took place Aug. 8 in Shanghai, Laserworld provided support in the form of their Swiss and German laser gear to accompany the festival’s EDM oriented house and trance music.

WESTON-super-MARE, UK – Colour Sound Experiment has provided lighting gear to LD Alan King for his illumination of the castle at the antithetical theme park wonderland of Dismaland, a temporary-pop up art intervention that turns the safety of simulacrum on its head … at the site of Tropicana, a derelict seafront lido in Weston Super Mare, UK. The experience is curated by graffiti artist and provocateur, Banksy. 

DUBAI, UAE – Protec supplied HQ Creative with lighting, video, and rigging for the opening ceremony of the 2015 Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, held at NAS Sports Complex on June 21. The lighting aspect of the event was created using 24 Clay Paky Mythos and 14 Clay Paky A.leda B-Eye K10, working together alongside the Sharpy, Sharpy Wash 330, and Super Sharpy fixtures.

UK – Last month, the brand-new musical Mrs. Henderson Presents received its world premiere at the Theatre Royal Bath and has just completed what was an incredibly successful run. Based on the hit 2005 film that starred Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, it tells the story of eccentric widow Laura Henderson who, unsure how to spend her inherited fortune, buys the decaying Windmill Theatre. After introducing nude female dance acts, it suddenly becomes the most popular venue in all of London.
