    ARNHEM, The Netherlands - SGM’s products recently put on a display at the dance event, Qlimax, held last month at the GelreDome football stadium in Arnhem. Lighting/production designers Jonas Smith, Tamil van Draanen and Marcel Binnenmarsch chose 24 SGM Six Pack (SP-6) blinders - operating from the VIP decks - along with 28 SGM P-5 washlights and 25 x X-5 white strobes flooding the stage for 30,000 fans.

    Miss Albania Pageant Looks to Clay Paky, ASLV

    Republic of ALBANIA - The Miss Albania 2012 pageant has taken place every year since 1998 in Albanian historic sites and castles. The lighting design must then take into account the nationwide TV coverage, the talent and the towering sites and castles as part of the scenic elements. Italian director of photography Franco Ferrari chose Clay Paky fixtures including the Sharpys to handle his challenges of the annual pageant. ASLV supplied the lighting and video equipment.

    First Robe Robin DLFs Tour with The Human League

    LONDON - The first of Robe’s new Robin DLF LED Wash lights went on tour in the UK with LD Rob Sinclair and The Human League. The rig also contained other Robe fixtures which illuminated and projected on to a scenic back wall above and behind the band, constructed from 10 Airformance Design ‘Waben Blocks.’ HSL supplied the lighting.

    LS-Live Announces Show Weighing Service for Safer Tours

    SOUTH KIRBY, YORKSHIRE, UK – One of the UK’s biggest arena rehearsal facilities is working with Richard Young’s new Load Cell Rental company to provide an accurate weighing service to its client base of touring shows and bands. Independent riggers will install clip-on Load Cells during load in, return to record the weight once the rig is hanging, then produce an independent assessment of the weight of the system. Clients will receive a report that includes calibration certificates of the cells used, which can be forwarded to all venues on the tour as part of the health and safety documentation in addition to the rigging plot.

    JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - The Johannesburg Theatre took delivery of its 20 new Robe MMX Spot fixtures from Robe’s South African distributor DWR just in time for them to go into action on the annual pantomime, which this year is Jack & the Beanstalk. The MMX Spots are installed in the theatre’s 1063-capacity Mandela auditorium – the largest of its four performance spaces – and Jack & The Beanstalk is the first show to use them.

    Clay Paky Fixtures Fill Dance Floor of Halikarnas Club

    BODRUM, Turkey – Clay Paky Sharpy and Clay Paky Alpha Beam 300 luminaires are being used in one of Turkey’s super clubs as part of a major lighting and decor redesign. Lighting designers Matthew Button and Trent O’Connor of Arch Lite provided lighting design, production and programming for the Halikarnas club. They needed to fill a huge dance floor from a distance, and make the club look amazing from every angle that the light show could be seen from, said Burton. They examined a number of possibilities of the architectural design, finishing with a futuristic design that encases the lights within the stage roof.

    BRUSSELS - Brussels live music venue, the Ancienne Belgique, has invested in 20 Robe Robin MMX Spot moving lights to replace spot fixtures in a major upgrade to their lighting system. The decision to invest in Robe moving lights was a collective one made by all four members of the AB’s in house lighting technical team led by Kris Noerens. After various shoot-outs, the lighting crew toured Robe’s factory and training facility in the Czech Republic for product training before taking delivery of their new fixtures.

    STOCKHOLM, Sweden – LD Per Sundin of Sundin Designers has used 170 Clay Paky Sharpys to light a star-studded concert that celebrates the launch of Stockholm’s newly built, 67,500-capacity Friends Arena. Sundin had several challenges: the show would be broadcast on Swedish TV, and the performances would vary in style to demonstrate all the different types of entertainment to come at the new arena.
