LYON, France — Airstar recently unveiled a temporary installation with giant inflatable LED lightbulbs of various shapes and sizes. The display greeted visitors to the Lyon Light Festival in France. Airstar installed nine giant old-style bulbs in an urban pond on the bank of the Rhône River, including a 10-meter-high “incandescent”-looking light bulb that lit up with 2,000 RGBW LED light sources inside.

EDINBURGH, Scotland – The ShowDome at Our Dynamic Earth (ODE) in Edinburgh has been transformed with support from Electrosonic, which provided refurbishment and technical upgrades to one of Scotland’s biggest attractions.  In a two-phase project, Electrosonic has given the space a full-dome projection upgrade, a new theater layout, 106 new seats, and a state-of-the-art server and content management system. The ShowDome’s current presentation is Supervolcanoes.

TURIN, Italy – LD Walter Lutzun used Robe’s new Bright Multi-Functional Luminaire (BMFL) Spots for the main stage at the two-day C2C (Club2Club) International Festival of Music & Arts. Lutzun also used 16 Pointes, 12 MMX Spots and 12 LEDWash 600s for his design, which supported a variety of DJs and artists, each requiring their own distinctive visual styling and settings.

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Asimetrik hosted a open day on Nov. 5, featuring Clay Paky, DiGiCo and Meyer Sound gear. The event was held at Asimetrik’s HQ and Kucukciftlik Park (an outdoor culture and entertainment center). Brand representatives included Clay Paky’s Alberico D’Amato, DiGiCo’s James Bradley and Meyer Sound’s Scott Gledhill.

LONDON – Dubstep/garage star Katy B’s recent UK tour brought a moody nightclub atmosphere to venues around the U.K. with an assist from Tom Campbell’s silhouette rich, strobe heavy lighting design, which relied in part on the effects from new Stormy CC and A.leda B-EYE K20 and K10 fixtures from Clay Paky.

JOHANNESBURG, DURBAN and CAPE TOWN South Africa – Clay Paky’s Massimo Bolandrina and Giovanni Zucchinali spent two weeks in South Africa providing daily demos to introduce the company’s latest offerings to the region, including the SuperSharpy, Mythos and Stormy fixtures. A photo taken during this roadshow of a SuperSharpy beam projecting onto a cloud reached the second most “Likes” ever recorded on the Clay Paky Facebook page.

MANNHEIM, Germany — 1980s German rock/punk band Böhse Onkelz (Bad Uncles) reunited at Germany’s Hockenheimring race track earlier this year for their first show in nine years. LD Jerry Appelt included 80 Clay Paky Sharpys and 36 A.leda B-EYE K20s in the rig. PRG provided the gear to light the band on the main stage as well as a B-stage that brought the performers closer to more of their fans.

TØNSBERG, Sweden – Norwegian alternative rock band Seigmen took the stage for a 3-day show that was lit with a rig designed by LD Petter Nilssen. Nilssen used W-DMX F-2500 G4 and 3 W-DMX BlackBox F-1 G4 MK2 units with 16 W-DMX Micro R-512 G4 receivers spread across 4 truss sections and the floor. In total, 5 universes were run via W-DMX by Wireless Solution.

CURITIBA, Brazil – The Main and VuuV stages at the 2014 TribalTech “Reborn” Festival in Brazil buzzed with energy and over 200 Robe moving lights which were integrated into two very different but equally eye-catching lighting designs, by UK based LD Alex “Junior” Cerio of Smash Productions.

The vibrant 20,000 capacity multicultural dance / trance extravaganza staged at the Fazenda Heimari showground in Parana, Brazil, was completely sold out, offering 13 enigmatic live music stages delivering the very best of techno, house, electronica, trance and psytrance action over 20 hours of non-stop intense dance music and entertainment!
