Robe Lights Up Prljavo Kazalište at Pula Arena

Croatian rock band Prljavo Kazalište recently played a sold-out concert at Pula Arena, one of largest surviving Roman arenas in the world. LD Sven Ku?ini? made the most of this unique setting, using 24 x Pointes and 24 x MMX Spots to create visual impact. “The MMX is so powerful and versatile that I needed to spec only 12 wash lights on the entire rig … because I knew it could easily ‘cover’ when it came to extra wash,” said Sven.

Robe Lights Black Veil Brides Tour

LONDON – A touring specials rig of fourteen Robe Pointes is lighting up the stage for the Black Veil Brides’ The Black Mass world tour. “The band is very powerful visually and sonically, so I wanted our part of the performance to be based on timing and punch,” LD Chris Reade explained. “Rather than just a lot of thrashing and flashing for no apparent reason, you can expect lots of big potent looks – and a careful application of ‘less-is-more’ to make the most of the ‘negative’ space onstage as well.”

XL Video Supports Il Divo U.K./European Tour

LONDON – XL Video is supplying LED screens and an I-Mag projection system and camera for the Il Divo A Musical Affair tour. The screen is XL’s Pixled F-11 measuring 20 tiles wide by 10 high. XL’s camera package comprises four Sony HXC-100 HD operated units, two fitted with long lenses and positioned at FOH, and two on track-and-dolly in the pit fitted onto Osprey air pedestals.

Robe Lights Gala Dinner in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Lighting Designer Christopher Bolton recently used 24 Robe Robin Pointe fixtures for a recent gala dinner and evening of entertainment staged by corporate client EOH at Sandton Convention Centre here. One of the key challenges was the need to support more than 30 musical sections in the show, many set to timecode, despite a paucity of programming time. Bolton got an assist from Jade Manicom and also worked closely with stage and set designers Verusca DiZio and Paul Hughes and show director Samantha McGraw. AVL Productions served as technical service providers, working for producers Jam Productions.

Prolights Gear from Italy’s Music & Lights Using ArKaos PRO Kling-Net Protocol

BRUSSELS, Belgium – ArKaos noted recently that Italian lighting manufacturer Music & Lights is incorporating ArKaos’ Kling-Net protocol into a number of their pixel-based Prolights LED fixtures. Kling-Net will be retrofitted into four existing Prolights products, including the Halupix (pictured here), Chromapix, Halurock (pictured below) and Chromarock, with plans to incorporate King-Net into all new Prolights products going forward.

The Phantom of the Opera Opens in Estonia; Lighting Rig Includes Robe Gear

TARTU, Estonia — The Vanemuine Theatre here recently debuted its version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Phantom of The Opera. Pallé Palme specified more than 100 Robe moving lights in the rig, including 50 LEDWash 1200s, 20 LEDWash 600s and 24 MMX Spots and eight ROBIN 600E Spots, all from Robe’s Robin series. The rig also includes four Robe DigitalSpot 7000 DTs, which are used for projecting mapped video onto the various scenic pieces.
