MANCHESTER, U.K. — Lighting specialist dbn was once again involved in the production on behalf of Co-Operative Retail Trading Group (CRTG)’s annual Supporters Awards and gala dinner event, staged at the city’s Manchester Central venue.

GEDINNE, Belgium – From concept to design to pre-cueing to execution, all lighting for the 26th Gedinne Open Air outdoor dance event here was created by RG Light Service using the wysiwyg R33 lighting design software suite from CAST Software. LONDON — White Light customers can now rent ColourPoint uplighters directly from White Light. The London based lighting supplier has added more than 100 new CORE Lighting ColourPoint uplighters to its rental stock, further expanding the company’s range of all-weather event lighting.

AARHUS, Denmark —Harman’s Martin Professional announced the return of its MAC TW1 Tungsten wash light as a certified refurbished product to satisfy the global demands of lighting professionals. All Martin MAC TW1 refurbished fixtures will bear a “pre-owned /certified by Martin” label and meet the same performance standards and quality level of new Martin products.

EDINBURGH, U.K. — Theatre company Paines Plough’s portable Roundabout Theatre has been popping up for performances around the U.K., including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this past summer. Lighting programmer Peter Small opted for Avolites’ Sapphire Touch console to generate pixel mapped effects using 627 LEDs in panels built into the touring venue’s roof.

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia — Ljubljana Castle, which dates back to the 12th century, is one of the landmark attractions of Slovenia. Robe distributor MK Light Sound provided the castle’s caretakers with Robe CitySource 96 LED flood fixtures to light the courtyard for summer evenings and various events. CHELTENHAM, U.K. — Eagles tribute band The Ultimate Eagles marked the 20th anniversary of the Eagles’ album, When Hell Froze Over, with a special tour of the U.K.  The tour rig included Elation Platinum Beam 5R and Platinum Spot 5R Pro moving heads. Pacific Sound & Light provided the gear. The band is pictured here performing at Cheltenham Town Hall in late September.

LONDON — InfoComm International, organizer of various educational programs for the AV industry, announced plans for another of its “Networking for the AV Industry” events, set to take place here Dec. 9-11, 2014. AMX by Harman is the principal sponsor of the three—day intensive course.

LONDON — In addition to the Gottelier Award, given posthumously to Pasquale “Paky” Quadri, founder of Clay Paky, and accepted by Pio Nahum, pictured here, a number of manufacturers were honored for product innovation at PLASA 2014. They included (with products in parentheses) Clay Paky (Mythos), Elation (Sniper), Philips Vari-Lite (VL4000 Spot), Philips Strand Lighting (Emergency DMX Bypass Switch), GDS (ArcLamp), RC4 Wireless (DMX4dim Series 3), Neutrik (XIRIUM X) and  Robe (BMFL). This year, the optional Gold Award was also presented, to LumenRadio for its CRMXchip. The awards ceremony was held Oct. 7, 2014.

LONDON – The organizers of PLASA announced a new three-day format for the 2015 event, which is set to return to ExCeL London from Oct. 4-6, 2015. Also in the works: a new floor plan and an expanded educational focus.
