Behind the Scenes UK Launched at PLASA 2014

LONDON — The industry stepped up at PLASA 2014 to care for its own by supporting Behind the Scenes UK, the new charity that will provide financial assistance to entertainment technology professionals in need due to serious illness or injury. Through its raffle and other charitable donations, the charity received close to £40,000. Pictured here is White Light’s John Simpson, who also serves as chair of the Behind the Scenes UK Board of Trustees, with Amber Etra, winner of the Third Prize, a £500 hotel voucher. The Second Prize  (£1,000 Amazon gift card) went to Phil Hurley of Stage Sound Services Ltd in Cardiff. The First Prize was won by an American – Jerome Dunn of StageLight in Texas.

White Light Adds SGM G-Spots to Inventory

LONDON — White Light, based here, has added SGM’s IP65-rated LED G-Spot fixtures to its inventory. The fixtures, which make use of an 850W RGBY LED light source, were used an event for a legal consortium at Westminster Abbey and Horse Guards Parade Ground, pictured here. The G-Spots join other SGM fixtures in White Light’s inventory, including the P-5 washlights acquired by White Light last year.

White Light Provides ETC LED Fixtures for Royal Court Theatre

LONDON — When London’s Royal Court Theatre (RCT) sought to upgrade their existing lighting stock they turned to White Light for more than 50 of ETC’s Source Four LED Series 2 Profile fixtures across two venue spaces. LDs Peter Mumford and James Farncombe were the first to make use of the new energy-efficient fixtures. “Now is the right time to invest in LED,” noted Jack Williams, RCT’s head of lighting. The Script Cancels Melbourne, Australia Show After Staging Mishap

MELBOURNE, Australia — Irish pop-rock trio The Script canceled the show set for Oct. 11 after staging elements collapsed during setup prior to the show, according to reports. Although workers were on site at the horseracing track where the band had been scheduled to perform, no injuries were reported in the Oct. 10 mishap. “So sorry we can’t play,” band members tweeted to fans after the accident. “The stage collapsed, thank God nobody was hurt. We’ll be back soon.”
