SPAARNWOUDE, The Netherlands — The main stage design at this year’s DanceValley EDM extravaganza, staged in this Amsterdam suburb Aug. 2, featured a design by 250K and Andre Beekmans from The Art of Light. They used nearly 230 Robe moving lights supplied by The Purple Group. The main stage featured Steve Angello, Nicky Romero, DJ Chuckie and others and the event, which featured eight other EDM arenas, drew a crowd totaling close to 40,000.

MOSCOW — For Space Moscow, a mega-club modeled, to an extent, on the original Space Club in Ibiza, Spain, LD Vitally Perepelin included lighting fixtures, fog machines and consoles from Harman’s Martin Professional subsidiary. They include 22 MAC Auras, 12 MAC Viper Profiles, 12 MAC 101s, 16 RUSH MH3 Beams and 12 Atomic 3000 DMX strobes along with a Martin M6 controller, ZR-44 Hi-Mass fog machine and Jem 365 Ready hazer.

LONDON — When New Zealand band The Naked and Famous were set to play their first major U.K. headline showcase at Shepherds Bush Empire, Stage Techniques’ Liam Griffiths— their LD for the past three years — wanted to provide a visual treat. So he commandeered 12 of GLP’s new impression X4 XL LED washlights from equipment vendor TSL Lighting, knowing he would be giving them their exclusive UK debut.

PILTON, U.K. — Production technician Andy ‘Fraggle’ Porter incorporated 33 Showline SL NITRO 510 luminaires in an arch array that framed the Pyramid Stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival. The stage was used by Metallica and other top acts. Neg Earth provided the gear.

MOSCOW — In celebration of the 2014 World Cup final game, the three towers of “Vorobievy gory,” a residential complex in Moscow that faces the German Embassy, were lit during the match with the colors of Germany and Argentina’s national flags. With only a single day to light the towers, LD designer Sergey Babaliants of BaSinstall programmed the tower’s existing system, which includes 198 Martin Professional Exterior 200 fixtures.

On September 2nd, Robe Lighting is preparing to launch their latest products to the world in their live event, Robe Premiere.  The live global announcement will be broadcast in English with subtitle for French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese & Korean. The announcement states that the Czech Republic based company is preparing to launch “something special”.

ABBOTS RIPTON, U.K. — Avolites and Avolites Media both played a key role at Secret Garden Party 2014, with five stages controlled by Avolites, and Avolites Media featured on the main stage. The festival lineup included Fat Freddy’s Drop, Public Enemy and Little Dragon, among others.

EDINBURGH, Scotland – Projection artist Ross Ashton and his company The Projection Studio once again made a valiant attempt to top expectations for knockout projected visuals at this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Ashton worked with Brigadier David Alfrey on this year’s theme: “Our Home, Friends and Family.”

CREVOLADOSSOLA, Italy – Clay Paky lit up the Palissandro Marmi quarry for the the Tones on the Stones Festival. Clay Paky provided a wide range of lights this year: Alpha Wash 1500s, Alpha Profile 1500s, A. leda B-Eye K20s, Sharpys, GlowUp Strips and GlowUps.
