Almo Professional and NanoLumens have teamed up to outfit five Canadian casinos with custom digital signage displays. Each sign features a teepee-shaped configuration that is 12.5-feet tall by 14.5 feet around and presents video and ticker content designed to engage patrons.

PARIS — Laurent Chapot, longtime LD for French rocker Bernard Lavilliers, included Clay Paky Sharpys provided by Dushow for the France-based rocker’s concert at the Olympia venue in Paris. Chapot included 24 Sharpys – 12 Sharpy beam fixtures and 12 Sharpy Washes.

EMLEY, UK — Lighting designer James Bawn specified Clay Paky Sharpys to crown his colorful lighting design for Kirklees’ Arqiva Tower, known locally as the Emley Mast, during the opening of the Tour de France celebrations in Yorkshire. The ten Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures, supplied by Blackburn based rental company HSL, beamed out from the tower’s 272m high control room, creating dramatic aerial effects across the skies above Yorkshire’s Emley Moor.

HANNOVER, Germany – coolux Pandoras Box technology was used to power the Siemens booth at the HMI 2014 trade fair, a major industry event held here in April. The booth featured a curved 90-by-2.1-meter LED screen supplemented by a 40-square-meter circular LED element.

LONDON – The U.K. tour of Wicked (pictured here) and the West End revival of Miss Saigon both relied upon an Eos Ti system to control their complex lighting rigs. For Wicked, ETC dealer PRG provided Ti, Ion and Gio consoles, Remote Processor Units (RPU3), and a Remote Video Interface (RVI) along with a variety of lighting fixtures. For Miss Saigon, the setup included two Ti desks and an Ion console, and LD Bruno Poet and programmer Warren Letton credited the recent Eos-family software update for helping things go smoothly.

LONDON – ETC noted recently that more than 28,000 ETC Sensor power-control channels have been installed across central London, making ETC the most popular choice in the city. Among the latest recipients are the Prince Edward Theatre on Old Compton Street and the Donmar Warehouse Theatre.

DELHI – The Sant Nirankari Mission, also known as the Universal Brotherhood, invites the public to experience its Fountain of Oneness at its world headquarters here every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 6:30 p.m. Symbolizing the potential for people to come together despite differences in religions, cultures and languages, it combines elements of music, light and water. LD Lawrence Ryan included 12 SGM G-Spot moving heads in the programmed spectacle.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – LD Patrick Woodroffe included 54 Robe ROBIN Pointes in the lighting design for The Rolling Stones’ 14 On Fire tour. They were located on 12 sections of HUD truss running upstage and downstage on both sides of the massive stage. The band wrapped the European leg of their tour earlier this month with performances at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena and the Orange Canopy Stage at the Roskilde Festival.

OSAKA, Japan – In designing the lighting for Vanity Osaka nightclub, LD Michael Meacham made creative use of wide structural columns in the center of the dance floor. He used Chauvet’s EPIX 2.0 bars and EPIX 2.0 strips along with some adroit pixel mapping to incorporate them into his design. He also built EPIX 2.0 bars into the wall behind the DJ booth, added five configurations of 32 EPIX 2.0 strips each on the ceiling and positioned EPIX 2.0 strips behind the frosted glass in the VIP area. The LD accented the EPIX lighted columns with 20 Intimidator Spot LED 350 moving fixtures from Chauvet DJ in four groups of five. Meacham’s design utilizes the motorized focus of the Intimidator Spots to project crisp gobos over the dance floor.
