Lighting Gear for Emley Moor Mast Provided by HSL

EMLEY, U.K. – Rental specialist HSL supplied equipment for “Control t’force,” a light art installation created by LD James Bawn, that illuminated the 330 meter high Emley Moor Mast here, the tallest freestanding structure in the U.K. HSL supplied A&O Technology Falcon 6000 searchlights, Robe CitySkape Xtreme LED floods, Chroma-Q Color Force 48 LED battens and Clay Paky Sharpys and a custom Luminex fiber optic system.

George Benson UK Tour Supported by White Light

White Light provided a complete lighting package for George Benson’s 2014 UK Tour. The lighting rig is based around a core of Martin Professional Mac Viper Profiles – while also incorporating conventional fixtures. In addition to fixtures, White Light provided followspots, control, power distribution, effects, and consumables to for the tour. “The Mac Viper Profiles were a great choice,” LD Simon Tutchener said. ”They give a nice bright beam and are very responsive. They offered a lot of flexibility overall.”

Radio Italia Live in Milan Lit with B-EYEs, Other Clay Paky Fixtures

MILAN, Italy – “Radio Italia Live” has emerged as an annual showcase for Italian performers since the extravaganza was first staged in 2012 to mark Radio Italia’s 30th anniversary. Designer Giancarlo Toscani opted to make Clay Paky’s A.leda B-EYEs a big part of the 2014’s event’s lighting looks. They joined a rig that was also brightened with Clay Paky Alpha Beam 700s, Alpha Spot HPE 700s, Alpha Wash 700s and Alpha Profile 1500s.

The Knight of Illumination Awards To Be Held at The Troxy in East London

LONDON — Organizers of the annual Knight of Illumination (KOI) awards, to be held Oct. 5, 2014 during PLASA London, announced a new venue for this year’s ceremony: The Troxy, an Art Deco theatre and concert venue in East London. The venue, originally built as one of the largest cinemas in 1930’s England, is a grade II listed building that has played host to such 1940s-era standouts as the Andrews Sisters and Dame Vera Lynn to, in more recent years, Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and electro-pop trio London Grammar. This year’s event, the seventh annual ceremony, is being organized by the ALD, Ambersphere, Clay Paky and the STLD.

The visuals centered on a 100-foot-wide video screen, with added flash from the lighting rig. LD Tim Routledge used 46 A.Leda B-EYE K20 fixtures and 20 Sharpy Wash luminaires from Clay Paky, supplied via Neg Earth.

Clay Paky Hosts A Workshop and Lighting Contest for Young Designers

SERIATE, Italy – Clay Paky, based here, hosted a workshop attended by 35 budding lighting designers July 7-8. Along with console operation and moving light control, the event included a tour of Clay Paky’s manufacturing and R&D facilities. Clay Paky also hosted a contest for the participants, and six of the aspiring LDs were chosen to lend their skills to the Tones on the Stones theatre/music festival set for July 17-20.

UEP’s Chilfest 2014 Rig Includes New SGM Fixtures

TRING, U.K. – Returning for a second year to the picturesque Hertfordshire, UK countryside, Chilfest 2014 took place here July 4-6. Staged by by production company Universal Event Productions, UEP took the opportunity to showcase a number of new fixtures from its inventory including SGM’s SP-6 SixPack pixel blinders, XC-5 RGB color strobes, P-5 wash lights and G-Spot profiles. The six SGM SP-6 SixPack pixel blinders were installed downstage and used for audience illumination and 10 new SGM XC-5 RGB LED strobes were rigged above and used for classic strobe effects as well as floods.
