BLACKPOOL, U.K. — Amanda Thompson, managing director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and president of Stageworks Worldwide Productions, noted that Stageworks, which had acquired a Jands Vista T2 desk to support its Hot Ice Show production in 2011, recently upgraded to a Jands Vista L5 to support the increasing complexity of its ice skating spectacular. PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — The next generation of South African theatre lighting designers have got hands on with Philips Selecon’s PL range of LED luminaires as part of a two-day seminar focusing on the future of LED technology at The Savoy theatre in Adcockvale. The attendees, between 15-25 years in age, were part of The Performing Arts Network of South Africa’s (PANSA) Youth Theatre Project in the Eastern Cape province.

KONGSBERG, Norway — Swedish alt rockers Kent are touring this year in support of the April 2014 release of their eleventh album, Tigerdrottningen (The Tiger Queen). LD Uffe Jansson is providing some extra visual punch to the band’s festival lighting looks with 120 P-5 wash lights and 35 XC-5 color strobes from SGM.

MOSCOW — For NL International’s 13th Anniversary Event at Crocus City Hall here, Novosibirsk-based production company Elkruff included Clay Paky fixtures in the rig, including 30 Alpha Wash 1500s, 26 Alpha Wash 1200s, 64 Sharpys, 16 Alpha Spot HPE 1500s, 10  Alpha Beam 700s and 20 Alpha Beam 300s.

STOCKHOLM – Visual Productions’ CueCores were utilized to control the lighting on the Kista Trafikplats E4/E18 project where two bridges have been built at the largest interchange in Stockholm. CueCore was selected because it offers a solid-state solution that integrates a schedular. Two CueCores were used – one for each bridge – with a total of 400 LED channels per bridge.

NORRKÖPING, Sweden — LD Henrik Lundin is using Clay Paky B-EYE K20s to light Swedish vocalist Veronica Maggio’s first-ever Scandinavian arena tour. In addition to the B-EYE, Lundin specified 18 Alpha 1500 Profiles and 24 x Sharpys to keep the lighting rig and large LED screen in balance.  Lagom & Gott Ljud AB provided the fixtures.
