Strypes Perform in U.K. with Clay Paky Sharpys
LONDON — LD Steven Bewley included Clay Paky Sharpys in the rig for a concert at Shepherds Bush Empire featuring The Strypes. The gig was the first professionally lit show of the young band’s career. Bewley is known for his lighting designs for other concerts featuring Dizzee Rascal and Enter Shikari. Neg Earth provided the gear for the band’s U.K. shows, which were followed by gigs in North America in March.

LONDON —For the X-Factor Live UK arena tour, a seven-week U.K. jaunt featuring the top eight finalists from the 2013 series performing live, Blackburn-based HSL provided the lighting gear, truss elements and rigging. LD Peter Barnes designed the lighting, and lighting director/on-the-road operator was Jonathan Rouse. The live show was produced by Syco Music with technical production coordinated by Production North.

For the show’s projection mapping Thompson specified two Avolites Media Ai Infinity 4 Media Servers, one main and one backup, with full redundancy at every point.

LOS ANGELES – For its first restaurant in the U.S., Meizhou Dongpo Chinese Restaurant worked with LED Source’s Gavin Cooper and Lee Braddock on a design that turns ceilings and walls into expressive canvases of color. The design scheme also incorporates 475 lit vases set in glass-lined cubby holes along interior walls.

SOCHI, Russia – For the Winter Paralympic Games, LD Durham Marenghi used a lighting rig originally specified for the Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies to create a dramatic new design. “Most of the equipment was supplied and installed by PRG and the system already, included a large array of Sharpys and Sharpy Washes. We added some Clay Paky Alpha Profile 1500 and A.leda B-Eye K10 for specific tasks in the Paralympics,” he said.
