KIEV, Ukraine – Although the Ukrainian Music Fair (Ukrayinskyi Muzychnyi Yarmarok 2013) in Kiev is essentially a music fair, there was scope for Cortmi Ltd, one of the co-founders of this trade show and the territorial distributors for PR Lighting, to show off some of the Chinese manufacturer’s key fixtures.

LONDON — Eclipse Presentations, based in Kent, supported the 2013 Attitude Awards staged recently at the Royal Courts of Justice here. Eclipse handled the production design and supplied the gear for the event, sponsored by U.K.-based Attitude magazine. Virgin Holidays was a co-sponsor.

HONG KONG and MACAU, China — Robert Juliat’s Hong Kong distributor, Pacific Lighting (HK) Ltd, which had provided RJ Lancelot followspots to the CotaiArena at the The Venetian Macao, also recently provided a range of RJ 2.5kW profile fixtures and two Victor spots to Hong Kong’s Ko Shan Theatre Annex, along with two RJ Topaze followspots to the new Hong Kong Academy School, pictured here.

WOERDEN, The Netherlands — Purple Haze, a technical solutions and equipment provider based here, is run by Andre van der Heyden, who founded the company 35 years ago, naming it in honor of the Jimi Hendrix song. He bought his first Robe products in 2004 and has continued to invest in the brand, most recently with a purchase of 16 Robe Robin Pointe fixtures and eight MMX Spots from Robe’s Benelux distributor Controllux.

MELBOURNE, Australia — Beyonce’s 106-date Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, now traveling Australia with a planned return to North America later this year, includes a lighting design by LeRoy Bennett that includes more than a thousand fixtures and 208 Sharpys from Clay Paky for focused aerial beam effects. Upstaging is providing the gear.

ITALY – TV show designer Francesco De Cave’s production credits include Calzedonia Fashion Show, the Music Summer Festival series and Io Canto, which airs weekly on Italian national television. He also designed Laura Pausini’s World Tour, which commences in November. Over the years he has relied upon products from High End Systems, most recently the company’s Hog 4 range of control solutions.

CESKY KRUMLOV, Czech Republic — The Showlight trade event, held here in May 2013, was the second event where Ian Dow led the volunteer organizing committee. For the next event, Showlight 2017, John Allen of Northern Light will serve as chairman. Along with the event’s main sponsor, Robe, other sponsors of Showlight 2013 included Harman’s Martin lighting division, Clay Paky, White Light and others. The location and other detaisl for Showlight 2017 have not yet been announced.

LONDON – The 2013 Attitude Awards, held at the Royal Courts of Justice here Oct. 15, was lit by Kent, UK based Eclipse Presentations. The event’s challenges included the need to set up between 5pm and 8am within the landmark building.
