LONDON — From Here To Eternity, the new musical based on the 1953 film and 1951 novel, opened recently at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End. Produced by Tim Rice, who also penned the lyrics, the show features music by Stuart Brayson and book by Bill Oakes. The show is using lighting equipment including Martin MAC Viper fixtures supplied by entertainment lighting specialist White Light.

LIVERPOOL, U.K. — For Lawson’s recent homecoming show at Liverpool Echo Arena, rental specialist Adlib, also based here, provided lighting, sound and trucking support. For the lighting design by Vince Foster, Adlib provided a rig that included Martin MAC Aura LED washes, MAC 700 Washes, Clay Paky Sharpys andMartin Atomic strobes along with 4-lite Moles.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. — Colin Wood, who has been an LD since 2005, heads Pre Production Services, which specializes in lighting console rentals. Wood started using Robe several years ago and continues to rely on gear manufactured by the Czech Republic-based lighting manufacturer.

MANCHESTER, U.K. — A global musical phenomenon, Wicked has taken to the road for its first UK and Ireland tour and the Production Resource Group (PRG) is providing a custom-built automation solution and the full lighting system.

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013 saw Philips Entertainment brands – Selecon and Vari-Lite – work alongside leading venue producer C venues to increase the creative opportunities for over 170 of its international productions. Philips Entertainment supplied a selection of the Selecon PL range of LED luminaires alongside Vari-Lite discharge and LED moving heads. All were delivered in tandem with onsite training and support throughout.

ROZNOV POD RADHOSTEM, Czech Republic — Robe lighting recently launched a complete version of its website in Spanish.

BEIJING — More than 80 Robe moving lights have been installed at the Oriental Songlei Theatre, a new 1200 capacity cultural and arts centre here. The installation was part of a major joint venture by the Beijing Oriental Songlei Musical Development Company and the Dongcheng District Government of Beijing.

PARIS — A major pyro blast injured crew members prior to doors for the staging of a musical about the French revolution, 1789: Les Amants de la Bastille, at Palais des Sports de Paris. The show’s  technical director, Marcus Toledano, 41, had a heart attack and later died.
