LONDON — LD Graham “Grum” Leesmith was looking to create a smaller, “festival friendly” version of his full-scale arena touring rig and truss design for British rapper and singer/songwriter Example. The lightweight rig, put to use at several U.K. festivals this summer, makes use of James Thomas Engineering’s new JT Truss.

CANTERBURY and DEVON, U.K. — LD Richard Lambert of Lambco Lighting provided dramatic visuals for Miss Saigon at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury and Shadowlands at Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre in Devon. He included D.T.S. Jack and Nick moving lights for the shows.

MARSEILLE, France — Fort Saint-Jean, built in 1660 by France’s King Louis XIV, was updated in 2013 with a new bridge to MuCEM, the first French national museum to be located outside Paris. The structure also now has a new architectural lighting design by L’Agence Lumière that includes the use of 17 Martin Exterior 400 Image Projectors, each with rotating gobo and color wheels and seven 50W white LED light sources.

BLACKBURN, U.K. — HSL, based here, provided gear and crew to support the 2013 Creamsfields festival, which featured sets from ex-Swedish House Mafia DJs Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. HSL’s Mike Oates worked with MJM Management and LarMac Live along with LD Ian Tomlinson. The rigs included fixtures from Robe, Clay Paky and Martin, driven by grandMA and ChamSys consoles.

MANCHESTER, U.K. — Lighting design and rental specialists dbn, based here, provided lighting for the Weekending at the Whitworth Art Gallery event, held Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1. Drawing visitors with art, live music and other performances in Manchester’s Whitworth Park and Gallery, the public got the chance to view the final days of the Whitworth Art Gallery before the building closed for a £18 million refurbishment.
