PENZANCE, U.K. — For the Shattered Windscreen Theatre Company’s production of Wild Oats at the outdoor, seaside, carved-from-the-granite Minack Theatre here in August 2013, White Light provided lighting equipment to the specifications of LD Ken Allford. The gear, which complemented the Minack Theatre’s own stock of fixtures, included a range of ETC Source Four profiles, Philips Selecon Acclaim fresnels, Robert Juliat followspots and PAR fixtures.

OXFORD, U.K. — Tim Boyd, technical manager at the Oxford Playhouse here, noted recently that all of the 100-plus Robert Juliat fixtures that were ordered for the venue back in 1997 are still in fine working order after a decade and a half of use.

BLACKBURN, U.K. — Working with Chase & Status LD Neil Carson and lighting director Cate Carter, HSL provided more than 160 Robe, Clay Paky and Martin/Atomic and Novalight lighting fixtures along with a grandMA2 console in support of Chase & Status’ 2013 summer festival tour, which drew to a close at the 2013 Reading and Leeds Festivals.

LONDON — DMX Productions provided a lighting rig for a concert featuring folk/rock band Nepathya at Wembley Arena here that included Robe Pointe moving lights along with LEDWash 600s and MMX Spot fixtures. Tom Grant, working on behalf of rental company Siyan Ltd., oversaw the lighting and video design. SJ Grevett of DMX Productions managed the show’s production.

WAKEFIELD, U.K. — More than 50 students taking part in Backstage Academy’s 16-month live events production course have been getting hands-on experience with an assist from industry partners including lighting gear manufacturers and rental companies. Graduates earn a Foundation Degree in Live Events Production, which was independently written in collaboration with industry practitioners (validated by The University of Bolton) and places emphasis on practical experience.
