South African Youth Day Concert Featuring Zakes Bantwini Lit with Clay Paky Gear

DURBAN, South Africa — For a June 14 Zakes Bantwini concert at the Durban ICC commemorating the June 16 1976 Soweto Uprising, a.k.a. Youth Day, Simon Hampton from production company Black Coffee handled both the set and lighting design and included Clay Paky fixtures in the rig. Black Coffee worked with Mayonie Productions and the Ethekwini Municipality on the show.

HERTFORDSHIRE, UK — For the Electric City portion of the Eastern Electrics Festival, staged at Knebworth Park here Aug. 2-4, Smash Productions provided technical production, stage and architectural lighting and video designs. The design objectives for Smash’s Tim Smith and his team included creativity and energy efficiency, all on a relatively tight budget. Smash worked with George Made That on the project.

BOOM, Belgium — Some 250 Robe moving light fixtures were deployed site-wide at the 2013 Tomorrowland EDM festival, which drew close to 180,000 EDM fans to De Schorre National Park here from July 26-28. ID&T served as event organizers and Jurgen Nuytemans and Christophe Van Den Branden oversaw technical and artistic direction for a long list of top DJs on 14 live stages.
