LONDON – For the latest Kings of Leon tour, show director Paul Normandale’s set, lighting and production design made use of a Kinesys motion control system and a Kinesys’ LibraCELL load monitoring system. Rigorous Technology provided the technology overseen by head rigger Yose Lawson.

SKANDERBORG, Denmark — Set in a forest near a lake, the annual Skanderborg Festival already had a close-to-nature vibe. This year, Danny Tranekaer of Future Production reinforced the eco-friendly feel of the festival, staged here every August, with the use of energy-efficient SGM’s P-5 RGBW light fixtures. Together the 100 P-5s provided 2.5 million lumens of energy-efficient illumination for the event.

ROME — The Globe Theatre in Rome, an exact replica of the Shakespeare’s Globe venue in London, features productions by the Bard. LD Umile Vainieri oversaw a recent upgrade that included fixtures from Robe including eight Robin DLX Spots, 12 Robin LEDWash 600s and two DigitalSpot 7000DT moving projectors. The fixtures were sourced via Robe’s Italian distributor, Robe Multimedia.

LONDON — Electric Fly Productions, which provided lighting gear for all seven arenas at the 2013 Global Gathering festival, opted to use Martin’s M6 lighting console on the main stage for the lighting rig, which included a substantial number of Martin lighting fixtures.

PERTH, Australia — His Majesty’s Theatre, a.k.a. “The Maj,” home to the Western Australia Opera, recently upgraded with an ETC Eos console which resides in the bio box, an ETC EOS remote processor unit and an ETC Gio console which is used on stage and in the stalls as a production console.

MELBOURNE, Australia — Working with Suters Architects, Electrolight provided more than 300 Anolis ArcDot LED pixels to light the façade of the landmark waterslide at Noble Park Aquatic Centre (NPAC) here. The ArcDots helped make the 19.5-meter-high structure clearly visible from Melbourne’s town center. Dave Anderson led the design for Electrolight.

LONDON — The 2013 Coronation Festival Gala, honoring Queen Elizabeth II’s 60-plus years on the throne, included live performances from The National Youth Orchestra, The Feeling, The English National Ballet, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson and Katie Melua near Buckingham Palace. Staged July 11-14, the event featured a lighting design by LD Vince Foster who specified more than 150 Clay Paky fixtures.

WEST LONDON, U.K. — Colour Sound Experiment, based here, supported Festival Republic’s Dance, Lock Up / Rock and BBC Introducing Stages at the 2013 Reading and Leeds Festivals with visual design along with gear. Colour Sound also provided LED screen to the Dance stage (pictured here) and lighting for two silent discos and the Action Aid tent … and replicated all of this in Leeds.

WUPPERTAL, Germany — Riedel Communications, based here, will participate in the AVB@IBC Conference set for Sept. 15 in conjunction with IBC2013 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

SOUTH AFRICA — Forming part of the Samsung Galaxy S4 World Tour, the Galaxy S4 was launched to the South African market at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg recently and attended by some 2,000 guests. Mela Events turned to AV Unlimited for production support. AVU relied in part upon Clay Paky fixtures, including Alpha Spots and Sharpys.
