Entec Lighting Provides Gear, Crew and Light Sculpture for Larmer Tree Festival

SALISBURY, U.K. — The Larmer Tree Festival, an annual music and arts festival that focuses on acoustic folk, world music, reggae, roots and blues, took place at the Larmer Tree Park Gardens near here from July 17-21. In addition to its provision of stage lighting for six stages/performance areas (and crew for three), Entec Lighting created a custom fish-themed light sculpture.

LONDON — For the West End debut for the Brainiac Live show at The Palace Theatre here, XL Events had to figure out the best way to serve the show’s production needs – lighting, video and audio – while playing “underneath” Derren Brown’s current residency at the Palace — which entailed that the production be rigged and de-rigged in a seemingly impossible time frame, as little as 30 minutes, in some instances.

LD Luc Peumans Lights “Rigoletto” at Belgian Castle

RIJKHOVEN, Belgium —Luc Peumans, a lighting and visuals designer with Genk, Belgium-based Painting With Light, lit Summer Opera Alden Biesen’s 2013 season production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto with a moving light rig that included six Clay Paky Alpha Profile 1200s, 12 HES Studio Colors and a grandMA 2 for control. Carlos Wagner directed this year’s production, Marnik Daert designed the set, Niels Huybrecht assisted with programming and local rental company New Lines provided the gear.

Eventec Adds More Than 80 Robe Fixtures to Inventory

AALSMEER, The Netherlands — Eventec, a leading production company based here, added more than 80 new fixtures from Robe to its inventory, including Robe Robin Pointes, LEDWash 300s and MMX WashBeams. The gear will be used for a variety of live and televised productions. Eventec also works together with other Amsterdam-area rental companies —notably Haarlem-based React — to pool their gear resources in support of large events.

ETC Gio Controls Munich Opera Festival

MUNICH – The lighting department of the Bayerischen Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera), under the direction of Michael Bauer, specified a new ETC Gio lighting control desk for Munich Opera’s recent open-air festival. This year’s Munich Opera Festival, from June to July, kicked off with a spectacle. Richard Wagner, Giuseppe Verdi, and the Bavarian State Opera all marked their 200th birthday this year. To celebrate, the Opera staged Wagner vs. Verdi, a playful competition in which the two great composers meet each other as giant marionettes in the plaza outside the Bavarian State Opera House.
