It is with great sadness that The Association for Lighting Production and Design (The ALPD) heard the news that its Co-Founder and President, passed away. Richard Pilbrow, esteemed Member No. 1, had been the association’s President for many years. A distinguished lighting designer, producer, and writer, he was a hugely respected consultant for the construction of new performing arts. Vectorworks, Inc. Unveils 2023 Design Scholarship Winners, Selects Brenda Vaca Michan as Richard Diehl Winner

Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. has revealed the winners of this year’s Vectorworks Design Scholarship, naming Brenda Vaca Michan as the Richard Diehl Award winner. With over 1,000 submissions, scholarships were awarded to 21 students for 18 projects in the architecture, interior design, landscape and entertainment industries. The winning Richard Diehl submission Venus by Vaca Michan is a lighting design project for the play written by Suzan-Lori Parks that’s set in the 19th-century and directed by Mike Payette at the National Theater School of Canada. Vaca Michan utilized Vectorworks Spotlight for the lighting design to maintain consistency when working with the lighting plots for a diverse cast.Read More »Vectorworks, Inc. As many know, real Wacken fans don’t let the weather stop them. Zurich Open Air Festival’s Many Looks with CHAUVET Professional and FeedBack Show System & Service

Except for some single-minded fans of genres like opera, or baroque chamber ensembles, it’s impossible for any music lovers of any stripe to attend the Zurich Open Air Festival and not find multiple performances to love. A musical melting pot, the three-day festival held in suburban Glattbrugg, features artists from an incredible array of genres, from ballads to electronic beats, and hard rock anthems to indie tunes. Jazz, blues, and folk join the diverse mix for good measure.
