PRG Supplies Support for Chime For Change

LONDON – PRG teamed up with Harvey Goldsmith promotions at Twickenham in June to supply the rigging and lighting for the Chime For Change concert headlined by Beyonce and Madonna. Dubbed a ‘feminist Live Aid,’ the production featured a ine up of big name stars and a 50,000-strong audience to campaign for improved education, health and justice for women around the world.

ETC Source Four LED Helps Light Hiroshima Homage

NORMANDY, France – The nuclear blast at Hiroshima in 1945 is often described in Japanese as a flash (pika) followed by a bang (don). Last year, a performance lit with ETC Source Four LED Lustr+ fixtures aimed to represent the unexpected terror of the pika don through the medium of dance. Un Coup de Don, by dance company Ariadone and led by Carlotta Ikeda and Ko Morobushi (Japan), was part of the Festival Automne in Normandy, France.

Robe is ‘Out There’ with Paul McCartney in Brazil

BRAZIL – Paul McCartney’s ‘Out There’ world tour kicked off with three shows in Brazil with lighting looks from LD Roy Bennett. Bennett supervised the shows, while Lighting Director Wally Lees operated. Lighting equipment was supplied by leading Brazilian rental company LPL Professional Lighting and included Robe ColorSpot and ColorWash luminaires, together with other moving lights and generics.

Staging Collapse in Thailand Kills One, High Winds Blamed

PHUKET CITY, Thailand — A stage structure set up for performances accompanying the Phuket Prison Fair at the Saphan Hin public park here killed one person and injured another after collapsing in high winds at about 7:40 pm on June 17. Winds from the same storm were also fierce enough to rip the roofs off more than a dozen homes in the Phang Nga area, according to a report posted by Phuketwan, a local news source.

Renegade Designs Eddy Izzard’s ‘Force Majeure’

LONDON – Nick Gray of London-based creative visual design practice Renegade worked his lighting magic on the latest Eddie Izzard “Force Majeure” arena tour, which has just finished a three month tour around the UK and Europe. It’s the first time that Gray – well known for his work in the fashion world and as LD for rockers Kasabian – has designed lighting for the ‘surrealist’ funny-man, a task on which he collaborated closely with Izzard’s Artistic Director, Sarah Townsend.

Robe Marks Largest Installation of Fixtures in Estonia

TARTU, Estonia – Robe’s Estonian distributor E&T Ltd has completed the largest supply to date of Robe moving lights for a theatre installation. More than 200 fixtures have been delivered to the Vanemuine Teater in Tartu, Estonia’s lively second city and the country’s cultural and intellectual hub. The deal – part of a much wider program in which Robe luminaires have been supplied to all eight of Estonia’s state-supported theatres as part of a major national lighting upgrade – involves a mix of LEDWash 1200, 600 and 300s, MMX Spots, DLX Spots and Robin 600 and 300E Spot and Washes.

Project Puts MGC Lighting Head and Shoulders Above the Rest

ESSEX, UK – International lighting distributor, MGC Lighting, has supplied Impact Waterproof Flexistrip lighting for an unusual project involving 2.5 meter (8 ft.) high giraffe sculptures, which are being used to mark the 50th anniversary of Colchester Zoo in Essex.
