Robe Kit Helps Swedish Circus ‘Knit for Peace’

STOCKHOLM – Scandinavia’s leading contemporary circus company Cirkus Cirkör has purchased Robe MMX Spots and LEDWash moving lights for their current touring schedule, which presents their latest work, “Knitting Peace.” The Robes are currently the only lights on the show. They are rigged onto the custom trussing structure which is also used by the performers and for various props, with some units placed in the floor.

UK – Penn Elcom GmbH has acquired Netherlands-based flightcase manufacturer Flightware BV in an amicable agreement which will further strengthen and diversify The Penn Elcom Group’s flight case product design capabilities and ranges. The agreement was reached between Thomas Mostert, CEO of Penn Elcom GmbH, and Marcel Vlot, MD of Flightware, who is now planning to leave the industry to pursue other interests.

KOSICE, Slovak Republic – The Gothic Cathedral of St. Elizabeth in Košice, Slovak Republic, became the glowing centerpiece of the city’s Opening Ceremony celebrations for its year as European Capital of Culture in a lighting design featuring Robe and Anolis LED fixtures. The City Council was receiving around 300 calls a day after the end of the OC event asking why St. Elizabeth’s was no longer lit – a response so overwhelming that discussions have started about a potential permanent lighting installation for the cathedral.

Clay Paky Part of Eurovision Backstage Tour

MALMÖ, Sweden – Eurovision Song Contest organizers have planned an advance “behind the scenes” show in Malmö May 7-8 to present the event to the industry and the international press. The “backstage tour” will focus on the technology to be used during the contest, along with some workshops where the various technical partners will present the solutions they have provided for the event. As Clay Paky equipment is in heavy use in the design – at 701 fixtures – the company is participating in the backstage tour in a big way.

LONDON – Paule Constable has won the Best Lighting Design award, supported by White Light, at the 2013 Olivier Awards, which celebrate the best productions to open in London’s West End over the last year. White Light used the Clay Paky Sharpy Wash fixtures – a new addition to White Light’s hire stock – on the outdoor stage of the Covent Garden Piazza while Clay Paky Sharpy profiles were put to good use on the indoor stage.
