Mojo Barriers Helps Hobbit Premiere in New Zealand

WELLINGTON, NZ – An estimated 100,000 fans wearing elf ears and wizard hats waited patiently to greet their favorite stars for the film premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington, New Zealand. Mojo Barriers installed more than 1,968 feet of barriers along the length of the red carpet, which lined the city streets. This allowed the film’s stars to walk safely to the Embassy Theatre, where the event took place, and to keep fans from overflowing into the adjacent road traffic.

SYDNEY – Currently playing at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, Legally Blonde The Musical is lit by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller with Hugh Hamilton acting as associate for the Australian Tour. The set and lighting design for the Australian production comes from the London production of the musical held at the Savoy Theatre. The Lyric Theatre’s house rig of Vari-Lite moving fixtures and more than 200 ETC Source Fours play big roles in the production.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Chauvet Professional fixtures were again chosen for the new season of TV’s ‘Idol Puerto Rico.’ LD David Ayala used Chauvet Professional SparkliteLED Drape backdrop drapes for the show’s first season, then added for the current one more than 70 Chauvet Professional fixtures. Robe at ‘Face of the Year’ TV Event

BRATISLAVA, Slovak Republic – LD Martin Kubanka used Robe moving lights to illuminate Slovak Republic’s 2012 ‘Face of The Year’ contest and gala evening, which was broadcast live on national channel STV1. His role was to not only light the set but also to make the models competing in the event look their best. He worked closely with set designer Dano Sichma for this show. Slovakian rental company Q-99 supplied the gear.

Swedish House Mafia Uses Clay Paky for DVD Shoot

MILTON KEYNES, UK – For Swedish House Mafia’s DVD shoot, LD Ian Tomlinson specified Clay Paky Sharpys to add more effects to the show at the National Bowl at Milton Keynes. Tomlinson followed a ‘less is more’ approach, filling the gaps for the camera shots and lighting the stage and audience in a visual onslaught. HSL supplied 60 Clay Paky Sharpys, which were attached to the bottom of the video pods.

Electric Aura Projects Choose MAC 101s for Alan Tam Tour

VANCOUVER – World Vision raises funds for its African relief programs each year by staging a tour across Canada.  This year’s headliner was Alan Tam, who performed shows beneath a Martin rig of MAC 101 and MAC 700 series moving heads. Vancouver-based Canton Productions called upon Jason McKinnon from Electric Aura Projects (EAP) to design the tour lighting.
