Clay Paky Sharpys Light Lady Antebellum Tour

SYDNEY – Two dozen Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures helped light up Lady Antebellum’s “We Own the Night” world tour, which recently concluded with three dates in Australia. Creative director and designer Baz Halpin along with Chris Nyfield of Silent House delivered the band’s concept of a fan-centric experience by creating a stage which placed a portion of the audience inside the center of the stage area. This allowed Lady Antebellum to “immerse themselves in the audience and vice versa – the audience essentially became the backdrop of the show.”

Clay Paky Makes Heavy Contribution to Light Relief

LONDON – Clay Paky’s President/CEO Pasquale Quadri presented the lighting industry charity Light Relief with a £ 5,000 ($7,991) donation. The charity supports those with financial aid in the industry who experience hard times. Pio Nahum, chief commercial officer for Clay Paky, says, “Without the lighting designers who use our equipment so imaginatively and who willingly feedback to our R&D, Clay Paky could not be so successful. It’s important to us that we acknowledge our appreciation and offer our support to those individuals who need it. Light Relief is the perfect way for us to do this.”

Robe Lights Studio 54 Sportpaleis Disco Inferno

ANTWERP, Belgium – About 12,000 disco divas stepped out to the 2012 Studio 54 Sportpaleis event in Antwerp, Belgium to strut their best dancefloor moves and grooves to the sounds of the 1970s. The event featured Robe moving lights along with other gear supplied by Total Event Support. LD Peter Vervloesem designed the event; the centerpiece of the arena design was a massive chandelier in the roof made up from 400 x 40 cm mirror balls flown above the stage.

Stage Technologies Delivers New Automation for Radiohead

LONDON – Following a roof collapse earlier in the summer, Radiohead’s touring automation system had to be replaced. Stage Technologies provided a 60 axis “pod” system running 12 free flying video screens within 30 days for the fall tour in Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Stage Technologies’ Director of Rentals Services Ted Moore said, “When the call came I knew this was a big task. Delivering something so quickly that had needed to interface with equipment that had already been produced once by someone else is always a challenge, but my team delivered with dedication, hard work and professionalism.”

Robe in Rig for Czech Metalfest

JAROMER, Czech Republic – Robe moving lights made their presence felt at the Czech Metalfest, the 2012 Brutal Assault Festival, staged at an old army fortress in Jaromer, Czech Republic. The two Jägermeister and Metal Shop main stages were identical and were erected side by side in the main arena, operated in ‘flip-flop’ style, with one band setting up while the previous act was playing for short changeovers and a near uninterrupted sonic assault for the fans. The Robes along with other lighting were supplied by Prague rental company TD Promo SRO.

Space Skydive Gets Mission Control Help from Riedel

ROSWELL, NM – The Red Bull Stratos project, centering on Felix Baumgartner’s attempt to break the sound barrier during a 120,000-foot skydive from the edge of space, was a mission that pushed human limits. Riedel Communications supported the project with real-time solutions for video, audio and communications, integrating  wireless and wired digital intercom systems. Riedel also furnished the fiber-based video and signal distribution and the wireless video links from the capsule’s onboard cameras. Along with other records smashed by the feat, YouTube reported a live viewing audience of more than 8 million.
