White Light Sets Amateur and Schools Lighting Open Day

WIMBLEDON, UK – Entertainment lighting specialist White Light will hold its first Amateur and Schools Lighting Open Day on Sunday, Sept. 30 at its base in Wimbledon, southwest London. From 10:30 a.m.-4 pm, all are invited for hands-on demonstrations of products – including special effects – training on show control, a sale of used gear, and a barbecue lunch. There is no charge for the event, but interested persons are asked to RSVP.

Robert Juliat Lancelots Light ‘Rain of Poems’

LONDON – A ‘Rain of Poems’ fell from a helicopter as it hovered above Jubilee Gardens for 30 minutes, distributing 100,000 bookmark-shaped poems onto large crowds as they scrambled excitedly to catch and collect them all. Two Robert Juliat Lancelot 4000W HTI followspots, supplied by White Light, illuminated the spell-binding rainfall of words that fell on London’s Jubilee Gardens in June, launching the Southbank Centre’s Poetry Parnassus festival.

STRATFORD, UK – HSL supplied lighting equipment, LED screens, trussing and rigging for the 2012 Global Gathering event, staged at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford. The event attracted up to 50,000 dance music fans over two days. Even the sun participated in the fun over the two days – one of the few UK festivals this summer not to be plagued by erratic weather.

Martin M1 for Lenny Kravitz at TW Classic Fest

WERCHTER, Belgium – Lighting director and lighting op Jesse Blevins directed this summer’s Lenny Kravitz light show at the TW Classic Festival in Belgium from a Martin M1 lighting console with high res custom video content played back on a Martin Maxedia Broadcast. Live video of Kravitz was integrated in the light show and broadcast on a triangle-shaped video screen. Capture of the live video stream was done via the Martin MCC card for the Maxedia Broadcast, which meant that frame delay was minimal and latency was low between the performers on stage and the live video on screen.
