VIENNA  – Look Solutions’ TINY CX compact, battery-operated fog generator is at the heart of fashion technology with the Smoke Dress. Currently being shown at Vienna’s Technosensual exhibition, the dress  triggers attention with its flirty, blinking LEDs and then covers the wearer with fog as soon as people approach. TINY CX can easily be triggered with one hand and can also be operated by cable or radio remote control. Designer Anouk Wipprecht also outfitted Fergie with her LED dress for the Super Bowl halftime show this year.

NOVI SAD, Serbia – Robe moving lights have been specified and installed at the Serbian national broadcaster RDU RTV Vojvodine’s main studios in Novi Sad, together with LEDForce 18s from the Light4ce range. They are currently being used on a popular current affairs programs on Serbian TV, Tabloid with Sasa and Natasa.

LONDON – Creative lighting designer Nick Gray from Renegade was commissioned by show producers Bacchus to light the main venue at London’s first ‘London Collections: Men,’ a new high profile fashion showcase event for menswear, staged at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden. “Streamlined” and “clean-cut” defined the look.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Philips Entertainment luminaires are helping Auckland’s Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) dramatically reduce its energy consumption in its most recently completed display hall. This choice of more than 190 luminaires has substantially reduced its overall lighting load from 250kW to under 20kW. The fixtures are used to sculpt and illuminate the aircraft and associated displays.

LOS ANGELES – Four full-size grandMA consoles accompanied Prince on his recent Welcome 2 Australia Tour. Prince performed on a 360-degree stage in the shape of his signature symbol. Tour director and production designer Demfis Fyssicopulos, a longtime grandMA user, specified the systems for their versatility and reliability.

SURREY, UK – The staff at multi-purpose venue Dorking Halls wanted to replace the existing rig of 1,000W Fresnels and PARs. The aim was to build a lighting rig with the same high light output but with more versatility – all while being more energy-efficient than the previous set-up. The final rig chosen consisted of a core fixed-focus rig from Prism Projection: eight Prism RevEAL Color Wash fixtures and six Prism RevEAL Studio Fresnel fixtures, supplied by UK lighting specialists White Light.

MOSCOW – Martin Professional’s representative office in Russia and the CIS, in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt RUS, held a lighting designer contest as part of the Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia exhibition in Moscow. A special area was constructed in a lighting pavilion at the exhibition and outfitted with MAC Auras, MAC 101s, MAC 700 Profiles and MAC 2000 Washes. Contest participants prepared and demonstrated a four-minute light show with music in real time using a Martin M1 lighting console.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – A new era in South Africa has brought a new era for the stage with the opening of the Soweto Theatre in Johannesburg. The $18-million theater opened May 25 with more than 200 ETC Source Four lighting fixtures, including 72 of the new ETC Source Four Fresnels.

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands  – European pop girl group K3 is touring Europe with an army of Clay Paky fixtures supplied by PRG.  LD Luc Peumans employed more than 90 Clay Paky Alpha Beam 1500s and 24 Clay Paky Sharpys to shine the light on this tour.

LONDON – LD Durham Marenghi specified five Robert Juliat Lancelot 4000W HTI followspots as the main stage key lights for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert June 4 outside the gates of Buckingham Palace. The Lancelots cut through the quantity of light on stage and behind the performers to ensure the audience, both in the arena and watching on television, didn’t miss a moment of the action.
