Future Lighting at UK’s Dorking Halls

SURREY, UK – The staff at multi-purpose venue Dorking Halls wanted to replace the existing rig of 1,000W Fresnels and PARs. The aim was to build a lighting rig with the same high light output but with more versatility – all while being more energy-efficient than the previous set-up. The final rig chosen consisted of a core fixed-focus rig from Prism Projection: eight Prism RevEAL Color Wash fixtures and six Prism RevEAL Studio Fresnel fixtures, supplied by UK lighting specialists White Light.

Nearly 500 MAC Luminaires Light ‘Rick Hansen Celebration 25’

VANCOUVER – Twenty-five years to the day that Rick Hansen and his “Man in Motion World Tour” returned to Vancouver, a journey in which he circled the world in his wheelchair to raise awareness and money for spinal cord injuries, the Canadian Paralympian held a special anniversary show to inspire a new generation of activists. Lighting Designer Robert Sondergaard of Electric Aura Projects lit the show using a large Martin MAC rig supplied by Christie Lites.

Martin Honors Russian Lighting Designer Contest Participants

MOSCOW – Martin Professional’s representative office in Russia and the CIS, in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt RUS, held a lighting designer contest as part of the Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia exhibition in Moscow. A special area was constructed in a lighting pavilion at the exhibition and outfitted with MAC Auras, MAC 101s, MAC 700 Profiles and MAC 2000 Washes. Contest participants prepared and demonstrated a four-minute light show with music in real time using a Martin M1 lighting console.

Robe Celebrates Summer Nights at Schonbrunn Palace

VIENNA – LD Helmut Krammer specified around 135 Robe moving lights and LED fixtures to illuminate the 2012 Summer Night Concert, staged by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at Schönbrunn Palace. The Robe fixtures were used to light key areas of Schönbrunn Palace’s extensive gardens including the main and ballet stages, the Gloriette structure which stands prominently on the hill above the Palace and behind where the stage was located, and the magical Neptunbrunnen Fountains.

LONDON – Londoners were surprised July 15 with “One Extraordinary Day,” an event featuring aerial performances over various sites around the city. Sapsis Rigging played a role by supplying design consultation and rigging for choreographer Elizabeth Streb and her “Action Hero” troupe at the Millennium Bridge, City Hall, Trafalgar and Paternoster Squares, the National Theatre and the London Eye.
