MANCHESTER, UK – dbn Lighting supplied three giant truss crucifixes used as an eye-catching backdrop for the BBC’s live broadcast of The Preston Passion on Good Friday. The production, a re-telling of the Crucifixion of Jesus, came with its own drama in erecting the structures. dbn’s crew had a 10-minute window to raise each crucifix in time with the performance.

EINDHOVEN, Netherlands – De Effenaar is a busy live music and multi-purpose venue in central Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It recently replaced all its competing brands of moving light stock to Robe, at the instigation of technical manager Charles Konings. Controllux supplied the gear.

EDINBURGH, Scotland – Some of the first ETC Source Four LED fixtures on the market have been sold to the National Theatre of Scotland by ETC’s Edinburgh-based dealer Black Light. The new equipment will be put into play for the production, Appointment with the Wicker Man at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

MOSCOW – Moscow’s newly-reconstructed Theatre of Nations has been equipped with a large ADB Lighting installation by DOKA Center Ltd. DOKA was involved in every aspect of supplying the theatre’s technical systems, from designing the scenic technology to supplying the stage lighting equipment, as well as installation and commissioning.

BELGRADE, Serbia —The Bridge on Ada spans the river Sava in Belgrade, Serbia. Designated as one of the longest single-pylon, cable-stayed bridges in the world, the bridge officially opened early this year boasting 2,256 LED fixtures. In particular, 30 Pulsar RGB/LED ChromaFloods illuminate the inner pylon and tip, and 1032 Pulsar LED ChromaStrips light the underside of the carriageway.

Delhi, INDIA – The new Shroom Lounge and Nightclub in Delhi owes part of its club experience to the projection designs from multiple coolux Pandoras Box Player licenses. Digital Advantage was responsible for the overall installation and system integration, with Montie Paul taking care of the coolux programming in particular.

Yokohama, JAPAN – The Nissan Global Media Center was designed as a modern and stylish structure that illustrates Nissan’s corporate vision for the future. D.T.S. Lighting products were recently installed to illuminate the center’s studio, configured in a lighting rig that resembles a UFO hovering above the room.

LONDON — Le Mark, maker of the Dirty Rigger glove collection, announced that 10 percent of proceeds from the sale of their Ladies XS range of gloves for the coming year would go towards the U.K.-based Breast Cancer Care Program. WiSE (Women in Stage Entertainment) is joining the effort by raising attention among its nearly 600 female members and their supporters.

LEEDS, UK – PLASA Focus: Leeds 2012 drew in a record-breaking attendance of 2122 visitors – an increase of 8.5 percent over 2011. The event at the Royal Armouries  April 17-18 offered attendees two days of access to the newest and most innovative products in the live entertainment industry. LONDON – Chris Bushell, LD for Florence + the Machine, designed his lighting scheme to complement the theme of 1920’s Baroque fashions and architecture. To achieve this effect as well as make use of an esoteric color palette, he chose to use VL3500 Wash and VL3000 Spot luminaires from Philips Vari-Lite for the band’s world tour.
